    Pros

    The job is pretty simple.
Customers are very nice and friendly for the most part.
You can work in yoga pants and a company tee shirt.

    Cons

Very unpleasant managers. They were not very happy with their lives so they tried to make you unhappy as well.

    Advice to Management

Stop being in such a bad mood all the time.
    Have a little more professionalism.
    Be nicer to your customers.

    Pros

Nice discount. Good products to buy with your discount. Nice work environment, friendly coworkers.

    Cons

Unreliable hours. Management only needs do many people to operate the store so even though many get hired only a few can work at once.

    Advice to Management

Value the employees that you have hired and give them more hours before trying to recruit new people to hire. Be more honest with the employees and explain that a full time position is nearly impossible unless you are in management.

    Pros

Good environment, many positive people, good products, and high grown rate

    Cons

Management is spotty, does not develop employees for success , very low tenure and retention

    Advice to Management

better training processes & procedures, implement employee growth plan

  8. Good hours and flexibility, and challenging but not overwhelming.

    Pros

I really enjoyed my time here, and my managers in particular were always helpful and understanding. Hours and duties were good for a minimum wage job.

    Cons

Young, unmotivated employees tend to get away with not completing assigned tasks. They also frequently complained in front of or directly to customers without reprimand.

    Advice to Management

Some sort of standards should exist for associates to maximize the work that gets done as well as to better help customers and keep them coming back. These standards should be consistently enforced.

    Pros

    Good benefits and fun environment.

    Cons

Long hours for salaried employees with little payroll to spend.

    Advice to Management

Loosen the purse strings, we have really big, busy stores to manage with only one associate to provide excellent customer service AND task AND keep the store clean AND deter shop lifters AND take deliveries, etc.

    Pros

+ The pay is slightly above average for small box retail
    + Literally nothing else

    Cons

    - Payroll is consistently kept behind minimum required to maintain company standards
    - Unpaid overtime is required AND expected very frequently, 60-70 hour weeks are standard to maintain bare minimum for standards
-Distribution Center and shipping are on a completely different wavelength from actual stores, You will frequently be sent 4-5X what is needed to maintain a given section while others are not restocked for weeks on end. Store management has ZERO control over what enters the store
-Stocking standards are absurd, company maintains it takes 3 payroll hours to finish an average pallet, realistic testing shows 6 hours to be the average.
-As a store "manager" you will mostly be left to do all tasks yourself. The one associate you have will likely be left on the register trying to keep up with the line while you alone attempt to recover the entire store (think children everywhere unsupervised destroying everything) refill coolers, refill ball barrels, put back basket after basket of items left everywhere, watch the multiple trying to steal from you, running to the register to give refunds, resetting section after section every week, all while trying to give customer service to customers. (Hint its impossible to keep up with even on slow week)
-DO NOT SEEK EMPLOYMENT WITH THIS COMPANY! PLEASE! IT WILL EAT YOU ALIVE!
many managers have already left and many more are waiting for there chance. The ones they try to bring in to replace them mostly leave within a few months.
-Upper management live in a fairy tale world and have no idea what the ground level is like. If they knew half of what was going on in EVERY one of there stores to survive I believe they would rethink there entire strategy.
-Not a single person in any store on any level I have met has ever been happy to work at Five Below, everyone is miserable and ready to leave as soon as possible.

    Advice to Management

Give you store managers more control over what happens in there four walls. You tell us to "run it like it's our own business" every single time you see us, well then let us. These stores need help, the GM cant do everything themselves. Lighten up and re-plan your shipments. You cant just toss random freight at a store and hope it sticks.

    Pros

Customers are fun, always new product, work with an energetic team, corporate meeting for all store managers yearly.

    Cons

Drama brought in by district manager, payroll continues to get tighter yearly with higher customer service expectations. Always rearranging displays. For example moving most of a department 3 times in 5 weeks Currently experiencing lot of corporate turnover.

    Advice to Management

It takes payroll hours to maintain and improve store standards plus to provide service to raise the customer service scores.
