    Pros

The firm has been growing steadily for the past 6 years. That means a lot of room to grow your career as well as make some money. I've seen sales people earning large annual incomes as their commission plan is fair and accelerates.

    Cons

Work life balance can be tough as the culture is driven to excel. you need to be "up for that" if you chose to come on board.

    Pros

Good Coffe. Great product. Work/life balance was good. Mon-fri 8-5

    Cons

So here is a day in the life of a biz dev. First, you come into work at exactly 8am. You cold call all day (and get hung up on) until you finally get a business owner on the phone who sounds somewhat interested in GPS. You get them to agree to sit through a demonstration. If they buy the product, you and the closer (person who conducts the demonstration) get $25 per vehicle. Sounds good because if you get a company with 50 vehicles, that’s $1250! The only problem is that it’s nearly impossible to schedule even 1 demonstration a day to maybe convert to a sale. And 50 vehicles is hitting the jackpot. It’s nearly impossible to get an owner of a company on the phone who has 50+ vehicles because they are obviously busy with other things. The norm is about 11 vehicles. All of the biz devs are constantly stepping on each other’s feet in hopes to get an appointment.

Now the closers have it made. While the biz devs are cold calling all day and trying to set appointments with closers, the closers are conducting the demonstrations that the biz dev scheduled. Remember, biz dev and closers both get paid $25 per vehicle so while you are hoping to maybe get 1 scheduled appointment per day that might turn into a sale, the closers are conducting demonstrations all day getting at LEAST 1 or more SALE per day. It’s a very unfair system because the closers end up getting at least 1 sale a day by doing minimal work.

It is because they play favorites there. If you are not in the cool kids club, you will not succeed. Also, they treat you like a child. Only 2 people can go on a bathroom break at a time. They actually encourage you to not take a break. If that’s not treating people like children I don’t know what is. The building is also ancient, smells like asbestos and is located smack dab in the middle of the hood.

All in all, you can make money here, you just have to put up with a ton of agony doing it. There are biz devs that make 100k per year. I really do not know how.

Treat your employees better, not like children.

    Pros

You can make decent money if you are willing to sell your soul....

    Cons

Most unprofessional place I have ever worked. Sexual jokes and racism run rampant and the management thinks it's funny. Show up 1 minute late and you are horrible because closers should show up at 7am.... even though the companies your calling may be a 3 hour time difference. They look down on you if you try to leave at 5 but when you interview they tell you one of the perks is a straight 40 hour week. Went on the company sales seminar trip which turned out to be booze, drugs and hookers..... this place is scary.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Boiler Room with incredible micromanagment

    I worked at FleetMatics

    Pros

-If you are prepped to go through hell, the money can be made here.

    -updated technology

    Cons

-micromanaged 7 hours a day (exclude 1 hour because they don't during your break... Typically).

-expect conflict with employees due to "stepping on feet" during the sales process.

-100 calls a day, weekly booked appointments 24/7 high stress level with daily goals, weekly
Goals, and monthly goals. When not met, job security becomes relevant

    -immaturity is everywhere.

-below average pay. 35,000 base on any sales level.

-Finally, there is ZERO growth opportunity. You can become a "closer" after 5 years or so
Of work if your lucky, and even at that you will deal with most of the above negatives.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees like they are human, and get it together. No one is going to work with you long term like this.

    Cons

Company is transitioning to being a larger company with a global footprint, just growing pains.

    Pros

    Great product with great support
    Prospects will know the company
    Nice office
    Some good people working hard

    Cons

Below average salary $35,000 for the amount of hours they expect you to work
They've taken away small bonuses that used to be available.
Management are snakes and play favorites without even pretending to care
The big dog comes and goes as he pleases and the other pushed his buddy into management
MINIMUM 100 calls a day and SUPREME micro-management
With all "favorites" and "lifers" you can forget about becoming a "closer"
    Training? What training?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    They don't care. Why bother?

    Pros

Great benefits, good upper management. Outside of this not to much going well at Fleetmatics. Potential if you were treated like a human not a replaceable lemming.

    Cons

Dont leave on time or show up on time. Consistent pushing an expensive product to people that already bought. Shady non cancel tactics to hold people hostage. Belittling employees is the norm even top performers. Unnecessary write ups and scare tactics to get people to produce. Managers are overbearing and hyper micro managers. No respect for you your time and family. Worse than careerbuilder.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat people like you want to be treated. Its not a sweat shop. We are people just like you. Reward don't use scare tactics. If I live 2 hours away dont penalize me for leaving on time.

    Pros

Base is $35,000 and you are making 100 to 130 calls a day. Company is growing and if you can deal with phones for 2-3 years you may be able to be promoted to "closer" or a marketing position.

    Cons

They treat you like you are in day care and elementary school. Do not EVER be 0.1 second late from a break however they will look down on you if you leave exactly 5:00pm. By the way, management lingers by the doors around 5:00pm to discourage people from leaving.
They are extremely disrespectful and condescending as if they really "own" you between 7:45 and 5:30. They act is if no one else is hiring, you don't have options, and its really no big deal if they embarrass you. Not for the overly sensitive as everyone in the office will know your business or make up a reason if you are out for a day or two. You may be out for vacation and according to the office you have AIDS.
