Pros
coworkers are great and keep a high moral, they are supportive and helpful
Cons
There is a lot of disorganization and it can get pretty hectic, if that's what you like then it can be a good thing
Advice to Senior Management
It's not bad, communication could be better
Pros
Good pay and good benefits
Cons
When you are hired you a told that this is a team oriented place of employment, it is as long as you do what the long term folks want.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your new employees, they may have some good ideas.
Pros
very educated, organized and responsible personell
Cons
not so proactive/ flexible organization
quite conservative
Advice to Senior Management
get more flexible regarding working from home for IS department
Pros
Nice facilities, some really great co-workers, great doctors, wide range of medical specialties, pay is average, benefits, locations are great.
Cons
all employees are treated the same whether you do a great job or a terrible job. Upper management and management turn a blind eye when it comes to disruptive or bad employees and if it is brought to there attention often times there is retaliation.
Advice to Senior Management
Reward and recognize the good employees, deal with the bad employees "stop rewarding the bad child" so the good employee stay!
Pros
The benefits are good and work is for a good cause
Cons
Senior Management is very poor
Pros
Saw many interesting cases due to the number of patients that came to the practice. People I worked with were hardworking and always willing to help out when they could.
Cons
Management was poor. Unwilling to assist those giving direct patient contact.
Advice to Senior Management
Not at this time. I hope management has improved since the last time I was there.
Pros
Its a caring community to work at
Cons
Top down leadership is exhausting
Pros
It is the only hospital in the area and therefore pays the highest salaries for nurses.
Great professional and knowledgeable staff .
Patients come to FAHC from all over VT and upper NY state.
FAHC is an academic medical center with 430 + beds and a level 1 trauma center.
Cons
There is no real clinical ladder in place for registered nurses.
The hospital was unionized (RN's and LPN's) recently due to a variety of issues...staffing levels, low salaries, overtime, etc. Morale, hopefully, has increased since I left in 2006.
Working with the residents and interns can be problematic depending on your point of view......
Advice to Senior Management
Talk to staff and really communicate what is happening and what is projected to happen to FAHC>
Pros
Fletcher Allen Health Care is well known as one of Vermont's largest employers. There are a lot of growth opportunities at Fletcher Allen Health Care. The best thing about this organization is the number of different jobs available that will open up. Fletcher Allen encourages its employees to stick with a job for 6 months to a year before transferring to a different department, but during those 6 months to a year you can get some valuable experience for future jobs. This place is great especially because the healthcare industry is a safe and dependable industry to be in. Great place to work for Vermonters!
Cons
The parking situation at Fletcher Allen is TERRIBLE. Employees that work at the Main Hospital as well as University Health Care are forced to park in satellite lots and ride shuttles (school buses) to work.
Advice to Senior Management
Encourage more growth for employees within in the organization. Offer better compensation packages for tuition reimbursements.
