OK starting place to be exposed Financial Trading systems and Program Trade, better pay and opportunities elsewhere

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsHave some smart programmers, good place to start out and learn the trade. Decent pay & bonuses, but must justify salary raises , bonuses and promotions each year with the owner. Well known in industry, well funded, and looks good on resume.

ConsCompany is privately owned and help run by family members & close friends(nepotism), even though some are not qualified to hold exec & senior positions. Not much culture or team building, unless you can be a "Yes-man" to upper management. No point bringing up things that's lacking in the company to HR, since they are there to please owner & keep the peace.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay to retain top talent and promote Senior Leadership Team(SLT) that are NOT family & friends. This is to show fairness and career advancement with the company. Of course SLT, should have some say & power, not just a title.

    Painful and hopelessly managed

Associate Software Developer (Current Employee) Great Neck, NY

ProsWork is decent if you land in a good team though it quickly gets saturated as the scope of your work is limited

ConsThis company is a family owned business, the family will not hesitate to squeeze off the employees until the last penny.Proof is that you have to negotiate with the CEO for all year end compensation revisions.
Compensation is way less than the market.Negligible perks.Bonus is too low.
Employment is offered only to those desperate ones who will join at the lowest salary possible.
Promotion is hard to come by.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop just collecting money, start caring for employees.

Do not bother getting caught up in their pitch, hype, or hyperbole. None of it is real.

Assistant Vice President (Former Employee) Great Neck, NY

ProsIndian cultural awareness. You'll meet some very bright programmers.

ConsFamily run nepotism. Flat corporate structure. Anyone that is there more than 5 years knows how to game the system, which means, do not try to change anything that requires fixing. Anyone there past 10 years maybe just a handful have already lost their integrity and dream. Enslaves intelligent minds. Pay is usually lower than the street. Poor year end bonus system and compensation. Huge turnover rate. No culture. In-house competition even among sales team members. Bait and switch demos. Chop shop. Very poor reputation. Customers are leaving in droves.

Advice to Senior ManagementSell it while you still can.

    Successful company, but terrible practices

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Great Neck, NY

ProsSmall company with lots of hats to wear at any given time.
A huge presence in the industry, and their name on a resume will open doors.

ConsManagement is based on nepotism and whims.
There is not really a structure that supports employee growth.
Bonuses are based on CEO's feelings rather than reviews.
Management tends to like docile employees and cannot be challenged in any way.
They equate presence at your desk as productivity, not actual work.
Regardless of how much you do, if you are not popular with management, you will not go anywhere.

Advice to Senior ManagementLearn how to manage people and let them grow. It is better to admit you are wrong and create a great working environment, than insist you are right and bad one. Also, people in management roles should learn how to manage. Just look at your turn around rates...they are rather high.

    Great company as a start-up

Associate Software Developer (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsSince it is a small company you get to play a lot of roles. So you get some really good exposure. It is a great company as a start-up. The pay is also competent with other companies and the bonus is also quite good.

ConsSince it is a small company, it is not that renowned. So it will not create a great impression on your resume for the company name. But the work is really good. The people tend to get very serious as soon as they step in the office premises. It would have been fun had it been a little lighter. Colleagues hardly have a chat over coffee or something. The other thing is if you are into some kind of development work, you also have to support it. So you have to be there from 8:30-5:30 even if you do not have any work. And there is no work from home.

Advice to Senior ManagementWork on making the work culture a little fun. Everyone is very serious all the time.

    Exciting Experience

Associate Software Developer (Current Employee) Pune (India)

ProsGet to meet and work with giants from the world of financial trading.
Flat organisational structure with great advancement opportunities for initial 2-3 years.
Transparent management policies and friendly senior staff.

ConsClient support in India tends to become really strenuous
Personal growth opportunities tend to decrease after 2-3 years. They are limited to more senior personnel and thus, advancement stops.
Technology advancement is at a relative standstill

Advice to Senior ManagementMore importance to work-life balance
should allow employees to take on more responsibilities rather than limit them to senior personnel

    Satisfactory experince

    Analyst (Current Employee)

ProsLess work pressure, decent remuneration.Client interaction experience. Most. Most of the projects are handled individually hence experience to work in an autonomous manner.Less politics compared to other companies.

ConsLack of career progression. Most people stay in their current roles and hence moving up the ladder is impossible.Technical expertise cannot be developed compared to domain level.Low to very less team interaction/bonding.
