Hard working team being paid low wages

    Customer Service Representative (Current Employee)
    Harrisburg, PA

ProsYou get to learn all the time, some thing new about Cell phones.

ConsRaises are not something important. Bonus pay is getting harder to recevice. The team works very hard with hours that are all over the place. No routine, the schedules are so different every week. All team member get there days and hours to work mixed up. The Managers and Supervisors arrive late and leave early every week, but tell the team to not be tardy.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe managers and supervisors should be good communicators with the team and customers.

    Level III Technician (Former Employee)
    Louisville, KY

Prosgood pay, about all I have to say

Consno job security, they (flex) are willing to hire less qualified people and pay them less, than to keep seasoned professionals that have earned their pay.

Advice to Senior Managementkeep employees that have proven themselves over the years, instead of hiring new people for less with less experience.

Worst Culture I Have Ever Seen

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Milpitas, CA

ProsThere are some really smart, dedicated, pleasant people there - both individual contributors and managers - but they are a small minority.

Pay and benefits are not top-tier but not too bad.

A lot of opportunities to learn about the business and gain valuable experience.

Management seems understanding when it comes to certain personal issues and emergencies.

ConsThis is the most dysfunctional organization of any kind I have ever seen. Again, while there are some truly outstanding people, most have little sense of teamwork, flexibility, or customer focus. The average quality - work ethic, skill level, intelligence - is much lower than the OEM world. There is a lot of the "that's not my job" attitude. The organization as a whole is completely incompetent and so many mistakes are constantly made that customers are in a constant state of escalation and the few good people have to kill themselves to get anything done.

Politics are rampant and most managers treat their areas as their own fiefdoms. Some managers are frequently dishonest and unethical but allowed to get away with it. Depending on the job, the work load can be horrific - forget work-life balance. There is not enough direct or indirect labor to do everything in a quality way - management always says this is temporary but that's not true.
Some days it seems that accomplishing any little thing is a struggle due to bad attitude, laziness, or ineptness. As the job market continues to improve, the good employees with decent resumes will leave. No one with options would willingly stay here.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop measuring financials by site. One reason Foxconn and Jabil are eating your lunch is because they measure by Business Unit/customer. If you don't align your incentive structure to be more customer-focused, the company will continue to have a poor reputation in the OEM world.

NPI is not a profit center - it's an enabler of getting the sustaining production business where the real money is. Starving NPI for resources because you want a little better margin is shortsighted and will cost you business in the long run.

Start demanding a higher standard - start with yourselves first...

    Enlightening; yet disappointing

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThere is always work to be done and anyone can get hired as a worker on the Manufacturing floor...I do mean anyone.

ConsI believe the management team needs to treat employees fairly and consistently. Also, recognition of talented individuals should be acknowledged. There is little opportunity for advancement in the company and it seems that individuals that are truly talented are overlooked because of the "boys' club" mentality. Insecurity probably plays a factor as the team likes to resist change.

Advice to Senior ManagementDemand change and accountability from your team. Listen to your employees and encourage progress but demonstrate it first. Promote deserving individuals; not just those you are comfortable with. Loyalty should be towards the advancement of the company and you should always seek out deserving individuals.

It was good in the past but it is a horrible place now.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe pay is good for the amout of work you do when you start. This leads to the bad part.

ConsAfter a month the job puts more and more responsibilities on you and requires you to do more than what you agreed to when hired.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your employees with some respect. Give raises when you say you will. Give GOOD reasons when you decide that you dont want to give raises, not just made up reasons.
