  1. Milpitas Intern

    Pros

Great exposure and experience. I was able to learn a lot at my time at the Milpitas Site. Many hard working people. Being in the field, I was able to learn alot and get my hands-on a few projects but I wish there was more direction for the intern program.

    Cons

Lack of management leadership, very unorganized at times, many smart people but also many slow people.

I worked at Flextronics full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Strong service offerings and dedicated, energetic people. Industry leader in EMS space with a drive to provide innovative, new services to differentiate from competitors. Corporate culture typically supports a strong customer focus and a compelling desire to win. To a somewhat lesser degree, employees are empowered to take ownership and given the authority to do the right things.

    Cons

Big company bureaucracy in many business practices, although that probably cannot be helped in a company of >$20B. Sometimes feels like everybody gets a "no" vote (which can be frustrating), but it can sometimes be difficult to find who is empowered to get to "yes". As a service provider, this industry is simply brutal and the environment can be a meat grinder - so if you do not thrive on adrenaline, challenge, and daily heroics then find another industry. The last point breeds a constant churn of bodies, so employment stability can be difficult.

    Advice to Management

Executive management has failed for years to produce initiatives that result in long term shareholder value (e.g. stagnate stock price for more than a decade). I think it's time for the Board of Directors to consider new executive leadership that can look at the transforming the industry.

    Pros

The benefits for your valuable work is appreciated. Flex provides coffee, tea beverages at the cafeteria. The working condition at the facilities are well maintained to work all day.

    Cons

I have my own skills before I started working at Flex. Some workers like me only receives additional training thru Flex university. People can be competitive and there decision making can be impaired.

    Advice to Management

The people you manage will follow your leadership traits.

    Pros

Pros would be great work/life balance. Gives you the proper training and resources to perform your job well and professional.

    Cons

Higher ups in company look too much at numbers and not at actual situations. Threatens your job often. Have to meet crazy numbers. Higher ups don't like employee feedback.
