I have been working at Flextronics full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Attractive location was an advantage and lots of Employee Benefits offered. Very nice people. Had a Good Personal Bonding with everyone. Everyone was very helpful and respected each other's work.

    Cons

When compared to the Industry standards, compensation and hikes were a bit disappointment. Certain tasks were not properly assigned nor delegated.

I have been working at Flextronics full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Diverse and interesting. Job involved a lot of travel to neat places. Must have great intercommunication skills. Interacted with great people from around the world.

    Cons

Can get laid off at any time. I never saw it coming. They had to make room for another higher level director. So even though you add a lot of value and do a great job you can get laid off at any time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Should not lay off experienced employees. A lot of knowledge leaves the company.

I have been working at Flextronics full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Pretty decent hours. Communication pretty good no matter what level you are on. I feel like the pay is good for the work that we do. Great job if you love helping people and meeting new people everyday.

    Cons

Dealing with difficult people. Having to meet expectations based on numbers. If the store is short, no need to look for any help because you won't get it. NO OVERTIME!!!!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't just look at the numbers and use that on how the store is doing. Make a visit every now and then so you can see the things we have to deal with on the daily basis and then you will know why we say and do some of the things that we do.

Former Employee - Electronic Assembler in Newmarket, ON (Canada)

I worked at Flextronics full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - good experience to learn a lot of jobs within the company
    - the coworkers were the best part of this job, everyone was like a family, it was like a second home
    - usually stable environment and always busy most of the time except for some periods
    - very diverse so you get to meet people of different cultures and background

    Cons

    - MANAGEMENT were arrogant and didn't care about the workers so much and don't listen to the workers who have real complaints
    - it was far to travel to Newmarket for a lot of workers
    - pay was not that great for most

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop being greedy and selfish and listen to the needs of the workers and keep them happy. This is why Flextronics eventually shut down.

I worked at Flextronics full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Their companies values only apply when it benefits the company and the leadership is very poor. I found no pros working for Flextronics, too bad really. I went to work for Flextronics thinking I was making a solid career change to find about the supervisor disrespected women in the position I was hired in. I was underminded me in front of co-workers over and over. I went to the manager several times and nothing was done. The work center was a Hostile working environment.

    Cons

Only con was a free health screening. The health insurance plan was horrible. The health insurance is a HSA just horrible. Dental Plan was good though. I worked 6 days a week for two years to get a new product to market to be re-paid back by laying me off, my husband and 1,100 other people once the project was completed. I will never work for Flextronics in my career again nor do I recommend it to anyone. The pay is also very low if you do not have a degree such as I an my husband did. Most people were only getting paid $10 hr and when converted up to $10.50 hour.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try hiring less managers that do not have any people skills and Supervisors that discriminate against women. Do not over hire employees for projects then lay off 1,100 people once the project is completed. Flextronics brought jobs to Austin sure enough but then laid all those people off a year and half to two years later !
