    Pros

This company foster development. Has great benefits. Has longevity and the administration of the company was very vigilant.

    Cons

The company is vastly changing and raking the employees over the coles. They have hired new CLOSERS to conquer and get rid of the fat in the company. Not the same company Far from it!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Doesn't matter what my advice is the all are puppet masters they have no say so or control. If you don't agree with the majority you are suddenly an outcast are maybe displaced or moved to a task that is not a challenge.

    I worked at Florida Blue

    Pros

Great work environment, challenging assignments, excellent career building opportunities. I had the benefit of networking with people in the legal department and elsewhere that gave me excellent advice about going to law school.

    Cons

I had no negative experiences whatsoever when I worked with Florida Blue. Working in a highly regulated business like health insurance can be challenging at times but I was still offered countless opportunities to be creative and help craft company statements.

Like working in a government agency, work groups very siloed, company top heavy.

I have been working at Florida Blue full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Work environment alright, company has been stable for a long time since it is the dominant health insurance firm in Florida. There are lot of people that have worked 20+ years in the company. However that could be its Achilles heel also.

    Cons

Benefits could be better, the departmentalized organization structure causes people not to interact people from other work groups. For a company with motto "in the pursuit of health" one would think they offer free gym membership. Senior executives getting huge compensation while company's net income on a downward trajectory.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Corporate culture needs to be radically improved ... feels like a company stuck in the 70's. The CEO preached flat organization structure, but seems like more hierarchy is added.

I have been working at Florida Blue

    Pros

Though Health Insurance companies are going through many changes with the affordable care act, FL Blue remains competitive and in a good financial position. Great people who try to do the right thing.

    Cons

Pay scale could increase a bit and be more fair across the board.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to take the opinion of staff into account more often. They need to trust their staff a bit more.

I have been working at Florida Blue full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Time and time again, our GPTW survey results show this company is INDEED a fantastic place to work. ALL health insurance companies are suffering due to PPACA, and we are ALL making cut backs in one way or another. Despite that, we have HUNDREDS of employees who have been with this company for 20 years plus. I personally have more than 10 team members who are celebrating more than 15 years here. At 11 years under my belt, I'm a baby! Yes, we've had a layoff and there will be another in the spring. We are doing a re-set so we will remain competitive in this volatile market. You know who's been let go?? Primarily, it's been the losers who have failed drug tests, on Corrective Action, or squeezing by with 2's on their reviews. Those of us who work hard for our members and customers, who believe in what Florida Blue stands for, and WORK HARD every day aren't going anywhere, because we love this company!! Sour grapes on this board are just that. Do your homework.

    Cons

Challenges of working here?? Let's see... Perhaps they could bump up salaries a bit. I don't see enough of a bump each year, and the pay scale (low/mid/high for each position) has pretty much remained the same since my start date.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue supporting those of us who have strong work ethic and have pride in what we do.
