    Pros

They offer great monetary and insurance packages. Great campus. There's no need to leave campus for breakfast or lunch because there are cafeterias steps away from your building.

    Cons

    Annual lay-offs in information technology

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create more entry level IT positions for future advancement into that department.

I have been working at Florida Blue

    Pros

The company changed in a lot of ways...increased flexibility, like working from home. And the educational opportunities are great as well.

    Cons

Office culture is really changing. Efforts to reduce costs mean reducing staff, but high performing employees are leaving, and poor performers remain. Promotional opportunities are minimized after a point as it seems to be solely about who you know, and not what you know.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Changes are great, but poor top down communication impacts effective change. New leadership and new blood is great, but not at the expense of great employees existing employees and leaders.

    I worked at Florida Blue

    Pros

Florida Blue offered a competitive salary, benefits, etc. upon hiring. There are many perks to working at this health solutions company. For example, you can workout and dine right on campus.

    Cons

There are not enough entry level IT developer positions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer more entry level IT positions especially for those who have their bachelors degree so we can get experience in case we're laid off so we can at least put this experience on our resumes.

I have been working at Florida Blue

    Pros

Good health benefits, tuition reimbursement, and flexibility with hours.

    Cons

There are many positions on the Florida Blue campus, but the customer service positions pay the least although our job is very tasking. It's extremly difficult to leave customer service and go to a higher paying position.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Most of management has been with the company for years and are set in their way of doing things. It's best to learn to communicate with your supervisor effectively as possible even if you don't agree with their management style.

I have been working at Florida Blue full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The campus is nice and has lots of facilities. For non management they do usually offer good flexibility in working arrangements.

    Cons

The company has been on the decline for the past few years. Yes ACA has had an effect on it however cleaning out staff isn't the correct answer. I feel we need to address the issues and only fire those for talent reasons.

We lost a lot of talent over the years and it hasn't been replaced, only more levels of management.

Pay and performance measurements are poor along with declining health benefits from a health company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cut from the very top and fix the issues on the front end and correct the data.

I have been working at Florida Blue full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

A strong company trying to respond to fundamental changes in the health care and health insurance industry. Be ready for constant change. Strong vision of where it wants to go.

    Cons

Lots of internal change and reorganization, with downsizing in some areas and new opportunities in others. Constant change could be a negative if it's something you dislike.
