    Pros

Lots of Paid Time off to be used as sick or vacation. New CEO, making some much needed changes in the organization. Good leaders within the org if you are lucky enough to get to work for one. Many decisions are time off and work from home, etc are up to management.

    Cons

Struggle with admin cost so they will lay people off to save a dime but spend hundreds of thousands on systems that don't work. Too much red tape for quick changes, especially IT. Though you could get a great manager, they have many who have been there for years and are poor decision makers. Going to take a while to weed them out. If they ever do.

    Advice to Management

Consistency in policies are needed. You get plenty of time off but too busy to use it. Old school thinkers need to go. Stop hiring and promoting your friends/family and letting good people you have invested money in go to save a dime.

    Pros

Great system of accountability, increased interaction with leadership. The intranet is set-up so it is easy to access resources for assistance in your job. The main campus in Jacksonville is beautiful.

    Cons

With the new CEO who joined a few years ago, there has been a new leadership team brought on. They have been making drastic cuts and changes to the company in order to prep the company to go public (under Guidewell). As a result, they laid off around 250 employees, sent almost all the Quality Analysis testing work overseas (India), and cut back on employee benefits. A friend who still works there and is close with leadership said the rumor is 40% of the company's top performers (those whose performance was rated above a 3) have left the company voluntarily. I think a new person coming in to the company wouldn't notice any drawbacks, but for those who made the company their career it was a huge disappointment in how the changes were rolled out.

    Advice to Management

Bring back some of the benefits to keep your talent. The same amount of work with less people and sending jobs overseas does little to build morale.

    Pros

The people you work with are amazing

    Cons

The executive leadership does not understand nor care how much work they create.

    Advice to Management

Care more about the people and not how much money you can make or save.

    Pros

I have great management but I do believe their hands are tied when it comes to some issues.

    Cons

Too top heavy when it comes to upper management. How many VP'S does a company need? Florida Blue used to be a stable company to work at, I do not think so now. A lot of changes within the last 5 years. Between lay offs and outsourcing jobs, it does not look good for the remaining employees.

    Advice to Management

Time to utilize your key employees as much as you can because they actually care about their job and the company. Start taking accountability of the employees who are not doing their job or the ones barely doing their job. What happened to one, two, three strikes you're OUT.

    Pros

Smart people who want to do the right things. Mission could be very meaningful if short-term earnings didn't get in the way.

    Cons

Too boggled by bureaucracy, fear, second-guessing, not trusting employees to do the right things. Absolutely no loyalty to employees. Everyone except the very top is seen as replaceable in a moment's notice.

    Advice to Management

Practice and hold everyone accountable to the values the company adopted a few years ago instead of just mouthing them.

    Pros

Decent pay. Nice offices. Benefits. Community outreach. Financially strong, though they act like they're not. Wellness programs and HSA. 401k.

    Cons

Where to begin? Constant layoffs and employees in fear of losing their jobs. CEO is very smart but out for his image externally and has lost focus on the employee experience. New president talks a good game but doesn't take a real interest in employees. What used to be a caring company is now a bottom line focused org. It's sad and I'm happy I left. Everyone I'm still connected to there is miserable.

    Advice to Management

If you really want to be a great place to work, begin to act like it. Your employees are smarter than you think and they know you're full of it.
