I have been working at Florida Department of Economic Opportunity full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This position presents you an opportunity to get your foot in the door working for state level government. They give proper training and skill sets needed to handle clerical/administrative/government job duties. You are also given a sense of great responsibility in assisting claimants with their current or new cases of re-employment assistance. Pay is decent, benefits are great, and hours are your typical eight to five deal, forty hours a week.

    Cons

Job can be stressful at times and if you are not people oriented, this may not be the job for you. You will deal with claimant who may be difficult and trying but do understand that they needs assistance. Commuting to a work location may be difficult for some and there isn't a great deal of mobility in terms of job promotions.

    Advice to Management

Job duties must be recognized and honored. They cannot correlate in tandem with handling a series of high volume calls. Employees need to be able to complete the quotas set forth before they can go about handling high calls from claimants. If you want quality and quantity, you must even it out.

The front line of the organization is great but underpayed and underappreciated by State leadership. That's why no one stays.
