    Pros

    Good People to work with.

    Cons

Most lower Management dont know what they are doing.
A lot of good people left or are leaving and I am working on it.
It used to be such a great place to work until they went through a management change. Now the managers treat you like you are much lower life form.

Worst two years of my life. Started as a GN, I learned "nurses eat their young" after they throw you under the bus.

I have been working at Florida Hospital Orlando full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Was able to choose my which shift I wanted to work, not the weekly schedule, but if I would work day or night.

    Cons

The worst management I have ever worked for in my life. Hostile work environment on almost any shift you work, intimidation is the way they prefer to handle the employees and get away with it as many are not American, they are island or Asian and afraid to say anything to management, this makes the circle complete. It's a sad thing to witness.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Read your mission statement, now try to implement it. Real life at FH is nothing like the mission statement.

The hospital is a good place to work but the direct manager has not been helpful in most instances.

    Pros

A lot of good people to work with. Most enjoy their work and do a good job of what they are suppose to do.

    Cons

Some department cliques and politics, but that is every where and not exclusive to this organization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand and apply servent leadership as applied by Jesus. The role of the manager should be to help make the employees successful in what they are doing. Support training and be encouraging. Increase clarity in communication instead of assuming everyone knows what the manager means when they make a statement. Make it safe to ask quesitons.

    Pros

multiple campuses make it close to almost anywhere

    Cons

You will be told that a balance between work and family matters so much, just dont ask for a day off if you have anything you need to take care of at home.

You also better play the political games or you will be the one working your butt off while those who are good suck ups sit and watch.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest for once dont tell us how much you value your workers untill you really do.

    Pros

CEO Lars Houmann is a fantastic person. FH spends a lot of time and effort promoting the mission to "Extend the healing ministry of Christ". It is a faith based organization. I have been fortunate that most of my career has been under fantastic leadership. With the exception of one person, every immediate supervisor and most of the rest of leadership has made me feel like they have my best interest at heart. Benefits are pretty good. Should be voted one of the best places to work in IT. FH does not have all of the gimmicks that would get them on the list. Just an overall sincere group of people.

    Cons

FH is big so you will have some circumstances where someone does not feel well treated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Most of the complaints seem to come from clinical staff. They work so hard and it's very demanding.

    Pros

Good work-life balance, usually short workdays every Friday for non-clinical workers. Seems like people in the lower levels can move up pretty quickly.

    Cons

Harder to advance in the upper levels of management because people tend to stick around. They also don't like to fire people, so they end up just getting shifted around.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work! The hospital is doing really well compared with other hospitals, especially other not-for-profits, and keep expanding.
