I worked at Florida Memorial University full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The reasons why I work their for over 20 years was it was my first job out of college and I had supervisor looking out for me from the very start. The work environment was cohesive to a learning environment you would be comfortable working in.

    Cons

Once they started going to changes from the President office, the culture of the Family environment and everyone looking out change to it my work and you are just a slave in it. Everyone stated looking out for themselves to get the glory instead of let work together and we can accomplish more.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management need to stop trying to dictate policy from the top down and start listening to their middle and lower managers because they are the one on the front lines everyday. If you are not listening to them to tell you the real deal with whats happen with the student population, you could cause the retention rate of our student to increase tremendously and thus a lot of students could end up leaving school and you have no control over it.

I have been working at Florida Memorial University full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The technology exposure was excellent as the environment leverages Cisco, VMWare and Citrix. The hands on experience is tremendous as cross training was the popular methodology for providing backup support.

    Cons

Workload can be intimidating as short staffing was the norm. Pay scale was way below average.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promotion, salary and training incentives are very lacking for this organization. The leadership fosters an atmosphere of "you're on your own" .

    Pros

Great place for providing opportunity to students to get the best college experience they can have. A large core group of highly motivated faculty that care deeply about the job.

    Cons
