Pros
Great benefits. Good pay. Job stability. A lot of learning opportunities and some growth potential.
Cons
Limited movement as you get to the top of the food chain. Lots of politics, but what company doesn't have it right? Spartan office environments in satellite offices and GO.
Advice to Senior Management
Be transparent with employees about the direction the company is taking and actually match performance to pay.
Pros
The company has a great name and generally you can find outstanding professional to work with.
Cons
Young ambitious managers are very incompetent.
Advice to Senior Management
real education and respect.
Pros
You live in south Florida. The job is easy to learn. you are treated with respect all the times.
Cons
No room for growth. Your bonus is determined on whether the managers like you, not by what you have accomplished. Promotions are based on your appearance rather than your ability to perform the job, in some departments. No interest in keeping talented individuals or motivating individuals.
Advice to Senior Management
Use your brains...
Pros
Flexibility of work / life balance
Telecommuting
Employee centric
Benefits package is decent.
Wonderful co-workers.
Non-micromanagement
Trusting supervisor and higher management
Cons
Operating with "Tribal Knowledge"
Lack of documented business processes.
Promotions do not seem fair. Have to know somebody to get somewhere mentality.
Salary seems to be lower than other companies
Advice to Senior Management
Concentrate on your employees more. Alot of focus is there already, but I believe more is needed.
Pros
Excellent benefits.
Some excellent lower level mangers if you get one.
Good location but expensive
Cons
Very political atmosphere.
Communication is horrible.
Goofing off is ignored so many do minimum and get paid.
Pay scale is low for a high priced area to live.
Advice to Senior Management
Value your employees. As the economy improves, many will have no reason to hang around unless they are given incentive. Get rid of the slackers. Include this on those employee surveys and you will discover how many folks you pay for doing nothing.
Pros
The senior management team at FPL is as sharp and on their game as you can get. From a business perspective, I don't have any complaints whatsoever. I believe they balance shareholder needs with customer needs exceptionally well, and are driven to be a leader in the industry.
Cons
From a corporate policy standpoint, FPL is a good company to work for but individual managers -- even departmental VPs have unique management styles that can make the place a living hell. Any candidate should do their homework about the specific VP and directors they are reporting in to.
Advice to Senior Management
You have some amazing talent in the ranks of the company that are being treated poorly by their managers/directors. HR isn't helping...engagement exercises aren't helping...the problem lies with local management. This really needs to be addressed.
Pros
Good benefits and fair wages
Cons
Lack of training and promotions
Advice to Senior Management
Decrease amount of Executives (VP) and increase worker bees. Very top heavy.
Pros
Very forward looking parent company (NextEra Energy) that is becoming a powerhouse (pardon the pun) in the industry.
Cons
Senior management seems to being working on the right things and doing a good job leading the company in the right direction. SOME people in middle management (including VPs, Directors, Sr. Managers) are not so wonderful and are clearly more focused on hitting their budget numbers than motivating employees and satisfying (internal and external) customers.
Advice to Senior Management
Take everything you hear from middle management with a grain of salt. The company would be better off if some of these people were former managers.
Pros
This is a quality employer with good benefits and decent advancement oppurtunities. At the corporate level they are getting into numerous ventures of wind and solar so they are creating many oppurtunites for the future.
Cons
Work Life balance could be a little better at times. They have been taking away some good benefits due to the recent downturn in the economy.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep hiring quality people and promote from within. The company is well managed and has a very positive outlook for the future as long as they can retain the young talent.
Pros
Worked on real projects and got to network with a lot of people within the company. Loved the Juno Beach office and location.
Cons
Can be hard to get hired on after internship even if you get great performance reviews from your manager.
Advice to Senior Management
Work on retaining good interns for multiple years, and provide better ways to find jobs for the former interns.
