I worked at Florida Power & Light full-time

    Pros

Great pay and fantastic benefits. The job is as described.

    Cons

Shiftwork is the worse part of this job. Must work all three shifts on a rotating schedule. This becomes very tiring very quickly. Also hard to maintain a social life on such a schedule A lot of downtime, though some may like and even prefer this. Also, it is very unionized, so it comes with strong union mentality. Again, some may like this, though I prefer ununionized work.

    Pros

The people here are very helpful and knowledgeable about the business we are in.

    Cons

This is not an IT company so the IT department is not top priority

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up wiht new technology. Train your employees and get them to use the training instead of relying so much on outsourcing the IT department

I worked at Florida Power & Light full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits and compensation. Good work environment.

    Cons

Improve on a mentoring program. Management could have a better relationship with employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Filter down your game plan so lower level employees understand where you are going. Words like transparency and accountability do not mean a lot.

I have been working at Florida Power & Light full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Very professional atmosphere and strong active co-workers. Co-workers are the best reason to work with Florida Power and Light. Good work location, every other Friday off.

    Cons

Only ~3% average yearly salary increase. Currently performing company wide layoffs

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

With the current layoffs and cost cutting measures, not recommended because they will cut too deep and work life balance will take a bigger hit.

    Pros

I worked at Florida Power & Light full-time

    Pros

Good professional colleagues who are a pleasure to work with. Almost made the grueling hours worth it. Misery loves company.

    Cons

Replacing older workers through layoffs and attrition with much younger workers. Everyone in Marketing & Communications is overworked. Most work more than 50 hours per week with no overtime pay because they are all paid straight salary as they are misclassified as exempt.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Walk the walk. Make sure each department is creating an environment where work/life balance is possible.
