I have been working at Flowers Foods (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Average company with hard working employees

    Cons

Not employee friendly. Has a lot of nepotism throughout. Salary is mediocre and your over worked with little time for family.

    Advice to Management

Treat middle management better. They are over worked and under paid.

I worked at Flowers Foods full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The product is competitive in the market

    Cons

The marketing of the product is inconsistent with industry standard. The product comes in late to the warehouse compared to industry standard. You're considered an independent contractor, but treated like a company employee. The compensation is not equivalent to the work description. You work all major holidays except Christmas and Thanksgiving

    Advice to Management

Hire management that has experience in the field and can relate to driver concerns. Also, would be helpful to help drivers grow routes and territories, instead of leaving them to fend for themselves ....then when bonus for the quarter comes around, the company adds additional product to drivers without asking the drivers , so that District Managers can make bonus. A TREMENDOUS amount of extra product! If drivers are independent operators, that is a violation of the contract that Flowers Foods extends to drivers.

I worked at Flowers Foods full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Two weeks of vacation, IF you can get it approved. No one breathing down your neck, until the regional is snooping around and then the direct sales manager is up your rear!

    Cons

When I first started 8 years ago my pay was good. Over the last 3 years it became non-existent due to Flowers constantly catering to silly little accounts. Dollar General was treated as though they were Walmart. No benefits. 24/7 on call. Poor communication from sales management. Complicated pay checks(Too many unexplained charges/changes.) I sold my route last year, make a marginal return, but it doesn't make up for the weeks where they couldn't explain the "chargebacks" and I was stuck OWING them $1,000 for the week!

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the sales managers. And stop catering to the Family Dollar/Dollar Generals, they are a pain in the arse!

    Pros

Not working under management, adjusting schedule with coworkers, great coworkers, having down time, working at own pace

    Cons

Moving store to store, drama with older coworkers, lack of communication with supervisor, finding information out at the last minute

    Advice to Management

Do more research on people before you hire them and do more random drug test

I have been working at Flowers Foods full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent money, good vacation time off if you devote 10+ years of your life to a company that doesn't care about you

    Cons

Poorly trained management, overly demanding management long hours in extremely hot/cold environment, no sick days, nightshift with unpredictable work hours, every department in the company is ran like its own company and they are always running behind whether it's shipping or production and they always pass the buck and never take responsibility for the employees in their department. no chance for promotion,

    Advice to Management

Own up to your mistakes, communication with other departments is key! Don't hide things like dispatch time from corporate, get your stuff together

    Pros

the pay was good thats the only good thing

    Cons

extreme favoritism. they write you up for everything even things they told you to do as well as things you didn't do it happens to multiple people.

    Advice to Management

get people who can actually do there job without running to the supervisor for every little thing better yet learn how to and when to give write-ups not for things people did not do and defiantly for things the supervisors told them to do.
