I have been working at Flowers Foods

    Pros

Easy purchasing terms. No down payment, flexible credit terms. Anyone with a pulse can own a nature's own bread route.

    Cons

Heartless management, dissapearing percentages has left me very little to live on. Some weeks because of slow sales, truck repairs or because they freaking feel like it; i may not even get a paycheck after 70hrs of work.

I have been working at Flowers Foods as a contractor (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good Hours, Fun people to work with outside of flowers. Good Pay when you get it

    Cons

Company tells you in one sentence to push product then in the next wants to watch stales. have created competition for themselves and now have no clue how to control stale. Route Owners pay for allowances and have no control on them so they continue to go up and up. Good job to get into the business but not a long tern career

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Listen to distributors.
Get people in management that have RUN routes successfully.

I have been working at Flowers Foods

    Pros

Money can be good. Working without a supervisor watching over me(When they are not out to get you.) Flexible work hours.

    Cons

No benefits. 24/7 on call. Poor communication from sales management. Complicated pay checks(Too many unexplained charges/changes.) Sales management started to really try and dictate our schedules in 2011.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate directly to distributors and not through sales managers. Stop micromanaging distributors.

I have been working at Flowers Foods full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

You make good money , everyone has great personalities, fun, dont let the "warehouse" fun fool you though , Its very hard work long hours for most . If you dont mind waking up by 1 or 2 a.m I would recommend it . You meet all kinds of great people out on the route .

    Cons

The only cons to this position is , that the company does not have their priorities in a row , well some of them . They make you service accounts where you do not make any money. We as distributors have never got an answer for why . You call us business owners , If I own this business why can i not decide to stop servicing an account that only makes us lose money ? what business owner wants to service an account that does not provide them revenue? The company makes u waste your time money and energy doing these accounts . They try to push the Tasty Cake name anywhere and everywhere possible even if it doesnt sell ...... Why ? Trying everything possible to make a profit on a company they purchased , that wasnt worth it .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

STOP MAKING US SERVICE NON PROFITABLE ACCOUNTS !!!!
