Great company to work for, salaries not high enough.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Flowserve full-time for more than 8 years

ProsSmall company feel at regional service centers, with big company financial backing.

ConsIf you are not on the US gulf coast or one of the main factories it is hard to advance. Pay is sub-par.

Big Mistake

Machinist/Mill and CNC Operator (Current Employee)
Houston, TX

I have been working at Flowserve full-time for more than 10 years

ProsYou will work when they have work! A lot of overtime.

ConsWhen they are slow they have indirect time which they make you feel like you should not be on it but they will not let you go home early without taking your vacation or personal time.... Your trying to help them out? They want robots for employees you have a print and if the print is wrong continue with and finish the job the failure will go on another cost structure. Management treats staff like they are owned employees, I've been told HR is not for the employees and have seen harassment on the shop floor nothing is done and they "management" will have a big lay off to get rid of the people who have called HR. Bright side Management last's about 2-3 years at each site.

Mixed up experience, overall positive.

Application Engineer (Current Employee)
Vernon, CA

I have been working at Flowserve full-time for more than a year

ProsAbove average salaries, overall good products and technologies, has policies to treat employees fairly, good expansion strategies.

ConsToo much politics, at all levels, incredible amounts of time and effort are wasted in internal fighting. Organization is nearly incomprehensible: multiple layers and minute separations of the process and market that multiply exponentially the number of managers and reporting lines. Customer is rarely first. Depending on your manager, worklife becomes hard fast for the low level employee. There is a lot of low level training available, but not about the "good" stuff, and never within a training plan, it's more like "get what you can".

Advice to Senior ManagementGet a simpler organization.

Challenging and rewarding experience and good training opportunities

Applications Engineer (Former Employee)
Houston, TX

I worked at Flowserve full-time for more than a year

ProsIt's a great stable company to work for, with a strong focus on training and developing entry level college grads. After 2 to three years expect to get called by recruiters as the competition will try to hire you.

ConsIt's big company so you can get boxed into a corner if you don't actively seek out new opportunities.
