    Pros

The most recognized name in the pump business. I'd recommend work for a year or two to gain some good experience

    Cons

You are just a number. I work in the Chesapeake office and can not think of one person who is happy with their job. It is a very political environment with people talking behind others backs all the time. Everyone is overworked and unappreciated. Its very hard to get a promotion, as there seems to be a lot of competetion.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate the work of your employees and take a sincere interest in their development and advancement. Hire more people.

    Pros

Great pay, comfortable environment, decent benefits, very stable company, an ever expanding industry, merit based raise system, yearly bonus payout, and advancement opportunities are just a few of the great things about Flowserve.

    Cons

You will be a small cog in a very large machine. Flowserve is a huge company. Sometimes praise and recognition for a job well done is a little lacking.

    Advice to Management

Praise and recognition for a job well done or a job done above and beyond the call of normalcy should be encouraged. At the same time, people who do very little should be reprimanded.

    Pros

Flowserve is great at promoting from within. Jobs are posted internally and existing employees given preference, so there are great opportunities. My manager even encouraged many of his charges to leave to bigger and better things.

    Cons

Repetitive work at the bottom of the ladder. Also the company is quite arrogant about it's own superiority in the market, whether justified or not.

    Advice to Management

Keep promoting from within, this is the best way to keep employees satisfied and hoping for better things. Watch how you price your products and be more sensitive to the market as you could see trouble in the next few years with more competitors coming in many markets.

  6. Good place to work if you just want a job. Not the place for high performers.

    Pros

Good bonuses for all salaried employees when the company does well. On the order of 10-15% of salary. Easy pace of work. Not a competitive environment. "Small pond"

    Cons

Not a top tier company to work for. Management lacks business insight and creativity. Not a good place to work for high performers or top 15% type employees. You will be easily frustrated here if you fall into this category.

    Advice to Management

Completely restructure and bring in more qualified managers, though, this is probably not possible for a company in this sector because lack of money. This company operates in the manufacturing sector supporting most industries. New product development and innovation are not a part of this company or industry.

  7. Great company, lucky if you can get in. They hire the best and are willing to take the time to find them.

    Pros

The company priorities are in order and well directed. Good balance between work and home life. The company is on the move.

    Cons

HR is managed by attorney and causes delay and inconsistant reactions. Sometimes a bad HR decision is a good business decision.

    Advice to Management

Keep it up and pushing further growth.
