Focused on retail E-Commerce, Fluid is an exceptional small company with the benefits of a much larger one.

I have been working at Fluid

    Pros

The company is filled with energetic, smart people who care about their work. The company works with top brands in the retail space and anything you do has the potential to be seen by millions. Even though it's a small company, the benefits are comparable to much larger ones. The place is well managed with a focused plan. Communication is very open with management sharing the good, bad and ugly with the staff. It's a fun place to work.

    Cons

The only real downside to working at Fluid would be around size. They only have two offices and are not international yet. Additionally, you don't get some of the perks, like free food and sodas that you find at large tech companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ensure you continue your focus on the staff and the hiring process.

A great place to work at for a bit, but not a place to spend your career at

I worked at Fluid full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The people are the best reason to work here—Fluid does a great job of hiring people who fit into their culture.
Flexibility in working from home or remotely is also big at Fluid, but their chic downtown SF office can also be considered a "perk."

    Cons

*Agencies have ups and downs, and Fluid always seems to be seeking out its new place in the market as the market changes. That's part of agency life. With Fluid, it's often unclear how today's current business plan affects or reflects the work that they're currently doing (or soon starting).

*Clients can really be hit or miss! Mostly miss...

*Fluid tends to underpay its employees, perhaps as a tradeoff for their fun work culture.

I worked at Fluid full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Fantastic company at the forefront of ecommerce.

    Cons

Overly emotional about their work and customers, who are challenged to execute on the basics.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dealing with happy and unhappy customers is a daily job. Don't get so wound up and personal about the clients and projects you are working on. Understand that sometimes it is just about doing good, quality work for a customer without having it become a life or death conversation.
