    I worked at Fluid full-time

    Pros

Attempts are made to feed and entertain employees on a weekly basis. Generally a friendly group of people to work with. Offices are in great locations with easy access to public transportation.

    Cons

No clear paths for professional growth. Raises are few and far between. Communication from senior management to employees is infrequent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop with the favoritism and popularity contests.

I worked at Fluid full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Fantastic company at the forefront of ecommerce.

    Cons

Overly emotional about their work and customers, who are challenged to execute on the basics.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dealing with happy and unhappy customers is a daily job. Don't get so wound up and personal about the clients and projects you are working on. Understand that sometimes it is just about doing good, quality work for a customer without having it become a life or death conversation.

I have been working at Fluid full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    People genuinely nice
Good work culture and work/life balance
    Professional and accountable
Senior management are also very nice and CEO will hangout with everyone (even a design intern)
    Exciting growth

    Cons

Rapid growth changing the integrity of the work culture
Still figuring out the best process and how to budget. Sometimes over delivering to the client at the expense of the company and employees
Higher turnover rate lately so rather patchy resourcing

I worked at Fluid full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Has the usual high ceiling, hardwood floor, lots of food and parties vibe typical of any San Francisco startup. Great co-workers who are smart and have ideas, lots of great customers. Very innovative approach to ecommerce with great products and great site redesigns for customers

    Cons

Lots of layoffs that leave you scratching your head as to why people were hired in the first place. Lots of VP's and Directors in the same department which leads to more top heavy management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Rethink the number of people you promote and even out your middle managers

I worked at Fluid full-time for less than a year

    Pros

When I was there, there was a lot of opportunity to have a role in lots of new business pitches since the team was fairly small. Nice people, talented management, dog-friendly office.

    Cons

Management had no time to mentor, since everyone was stretched so thin. If you got your work done and were able to leave by 6 or 7, you'd get glances like you were a slacker or should stay all night just because some other people were. Often told that lots of new clients were in the pipe during company meetings, then a quarter of the company is laid off in the blink of an eye. They seem to hire more for who they can pay less than for most talented.

I have been working at Fluid full-time

    Pros

Working with some great day to day coworkers.
    Some interesting projects and technologies.
Good telecommuting options, many people work 100% offsite.
    Good flextime.

    Cons

It hurts to read the other reviews, but all the more painful because what they say is true. There has been changes the last few years, camaraderie and culture have eroded badly. Trust between company leadership and employees is damaged. Morale continues to deteriorate. More people continue to quit and others are eyeing the exits. People are not compensated appropriately. Some technology projects are very dull. Resourcing is almost always a problem.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat all your employees with respect and compensate properly. Watch out: once culture is gone its very hard to get it back. Get a new CEO who has a real plan and vision and can execute it instead of just throwing f-bombs. Not sure what HR does.

    I worked at Fluid full-time

    Pros

There are (were) some cool, very talented people here.

    Cons

Management gives zero time or effort to employees. Very bloated and top heavy leadership that is extremely out dated, in terms of industry thinking. Used to be a great fun place to work, now I would tell anyone to stay away. It's not worth your time to be under paid, under valued and under utilized.

I have been working at Fluid full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The people--some really cool people work there. They also do some fun things, e.g. parties, events.

    Cons

Management treats people like objects: happy to do lay offs when business slows down, happy to not be up front about difficult financial situations with the company overall (will paint a happy picture, then lay people off two weeks later). Management doesn't always do what they say. Management doesn't make hard decisions quickly, or sometimes at all. Fluid tends to low-ball when hiring, then allocates very little $ for raises. Your likelihood of increasing your income in line with the industry at Fluid is very low. The founders don't want to sell, or IPO, so the stock options are also unlikely to be of any value. Only Directors and above get options also.

I have been working at Fluid full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Some of the old timers that are still there are cool, but most seem to be ill treated and those with a conscience or any values probably won't stick around for long.

    Cons

    - Poor pay, no career growth, poor benefits
    - Employees are not valued and viewed as expendable
    - You'd think there'd be a lot of creative thinking here with all of their "innovation" mantras, but most of the work is rote and ideas, other than those of the leadership are not given much weight
    - Lots of talk, lots of promises, no action
    - Burning through cash quickly with lots of misses in hiring senior "leadership"
    - Most of the good people that were really smart and had something to offer were fired or chased out
    - Come up with a bunch of nonsense like "defining goals for yourself" with snappy acronyms that are complete bull****
    - Edict to "live and breathe the client" but when you work 16 hour days who has time for that
    - Completely egotistical and self serving management does not know how to grow a company externally or internally
    - HR is surface deep, many poor hires
    - Inability to deliver on projects time and again - especially when it comes to technology - many unhappy clients
    - Great culture that once existed and drew many people to this company is now completely gone

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Skim off the cream or step back and get off of your high horse and hire people that know what they are doing, know how to run and grow a company, know how to hire and retain people of value and turn this ship around before it is too late.
