    Pros

It is fun to work with fellow students, and to have managers who are used to employing students. They are generally sensitive to school-related issues and time conflicts. Follett Values cards are actually a pretty neat way to give and receive praise.

    Cons

Training procedures are dated and highly "corporate." Some managers are unnecessarily harsh or somewhat unprofessional. Wages are very low and raises must be very actively pursued.

    Advice to Management

Good job, for the most part. I'd love for training videos and procedures to be revamped and possibly expanded to apply to more low-level positions.

    Pros

I liked how my supervisor was skilled and knowledgable in every aspect of my job. And this because he was promoted from my position.

    Cons

I had a lot of repetition in my day to day to duties and I missed the creativity I have had in other positions.

    Advice to Management

Keep promoting from within. Try to give some type of bonus to all of your employees at christmas. Continue eating in the cafeteria with staff.

    Pros

I worked in a campus book store. Fast-paced, pleasant co-workers and managers. Fun to work with other students.

    Cons

General retail stress. Some customers would be stressed from messed up financial aid and other financial issues that we were powerless to sort out.

    Pros

I love FHEG. The company as a whole is a great one to work for. They assisted me in paying for my undergraduate degree. Provided me with a challenging career and the tools, ability, and freedom to see that it was done correctly. I enjoyed the people I worked directly with and those that worked under me. I became attached to the company as well as the school.

    Cons

The investment in time and energy can be overwhelming at times. This position is one that has defined peaks and valleys for sales and returns. As a result it can sometimes feel like running a marathon after running just a 3K. In addition, this is a position that deals with some of the politics of campus life and can be a strain to navigate while working with some administrators and faculty.

    Advice to Management

Be more open with employees. Treat them like they know how to run a store. But with that being said I would also suggest greater review of employees and removal of those under performing.

    Pros

Great company culture, and training program.

    Cons

The industry is unpredictable, so at any point you could lose your job if the university or college decides to go with a different company to manage the campus bookstore,

    Pros

The Management really cares about each and every associate. From the day you are hired you feel like you are a part of something, because you are. You're not just an employee, you're family.

    Cons

Only cons I can think of involve the industry, not the company. Books, are becoming obsolete with the new technology out there. Follett is changing to accommodate the new learning styles. But, I'm afraid technology will eventually out lap them.
