I have been working at Food Town part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly staff and willing to work with you when you need time off. They are willing to be flexible with your hours. Advancement is encouraged by the company.

    Cons

Poor training and pay. Work on holidays. Sometimes I find myself doing 2 or 3 other jobs while I am there and only paid minimum wage. The equipment is out dated. Poor maintenence. Customer service can be very slow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upgrade equipment. Better training will lead to better service.

Aside from the pay, it was definitely the worst retail management experience ever!

    I worked at Food Town

    Pros

Salary was good and so were the quarterly bonuses, that were ridiculously easy to make.
All that was required to be eligible for the quarterly manager's bonus was to be under-spent in labor costs. This was a joke considering you could play around with hours and not even worry about it until about three weeks before the quarterly inventory. Don't get me wrong I loved the extra money, I mean really who wouldn't, but I became concerned about job security and the companies business model. This was the first of MANY red flags to leave this company A.S.A.P.!!!!!!

    Cons

6 Day work week, no communication from upper management and when the stars aligned and we were so privileged to receive any downward communication it was mostly criticism to any attempt you made to improve the store. Corporate is very much set in their ways, no new ideas are accepted if you would like to make a suggestion for improvement it is immediately thwarted and seen as a "dumb idea" by upper management.

    I worked at Food Town

    Pros

    *employment as a cashier
    *hard working employees are friendly
    *3 managers directing cashiers
*4-5 different head cashiers in appropriate shifts
    *scheduled different shifts throughout employment

It is great memorizing codes and customer special order requests.
Restocking returned merchandise is a good way to help customers.
    cashiers are usually temporary positions

    Cons

*need to consider qualified person for advancement or raises
*should be respectful during business hours
    *treat all employees equally
    *high turnover rate
*hired for cashier did sackers job also(2 full jobs)
    *outdated equipment

should have scan guns. They are needed in retail with mass UPC codes
bathroom should be seperate from eating area.
Update equipment for customer satisfaction and employee safety.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    treat employees with respect
    workload should be evenly distributed
needs consistent rules for all managers/supervisors
interview process should not include derogatory speech or behavior
