ProsIf you want to make a career in retail, this is a great place to start. You WILL learn to love it, or you will decide that retail isn't for you. Get some good experiance here, then move on to something better

ConsPoliticking by upper management, you will will have to do work, only to see it be undone in a heartbeat. Accept it and move on. Be prepared to drink the Kool Aid, and brown nose to the managers. They eat that up.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere's a LOT of talented people there. Develop them and growth them.

Los Angeles, CA

Former Employee – worked at Foot Locker full-time for more than 7 years

ProsThere is room for advancement in most urban areas due to the large number of stores they own. If you are a fan of sports and or sneaker culture employee perks are great. Access to all the newest merchandise and information.

ConsPay is not great usually just enough to get by in whatever market you may live in. Management hours are long including multiple 12 hour shifts per week in most locations. Advancement beyond the store level not realistic in most cases and not mentioned for the most part. No buyer training programs, HR development; nothing. Maybe district manager track discussed but opportunities very limited.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you want to retain good people and keep them engaged, they have to see themselves doing something other than running larger stores for the next fifteen years.
