Fun company that leads to nowhere.

Store Manager In Training (Former Employee)
Daytona Beach, FL

I worked at Foot Locker full-time for more than 5 years

ProsFun atmosphere. Lots of sneakers. Good discount. Awesome coworkers.

ConsAs an assistant manager I never once received a raise for the 7 years of service I provided for the company. One month your an awesome employee then the next month if your store doesn't have a sales gain, upper management treats you like you don't know how to do your job and constantly threatens to transfer you to another store up to 50 mi from your home. I was also a store manager in waiting for almost 3 years. I was offered one store that was almost 100 mi from my home. When I didn't accept to run this store that is in the middle of nowhere, I was looked at as someone who didn't want to advance my career. But in fact I was willing to take any store that was still somewhat within my city. Ultimately, what was once a fun job to get experience, quickly became a dead end job full of empty promises.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop acting so absurdly when the VP or CEO of the company comes to visit. I literally use to have to stay til 2am preparing a store for a man who comes in for two minutes and doesn't even acknowledge you. They really only come in to speak to the store manager. Also, if you want to see a difference in your employees, try giving them a raise. I have seen countless EXCELLENT employees leave the company due to never receiving a raise or career advancement. Stop worrying so much about how many cleaners/insoles/socks a employees sells and start listening to your employees. We are the backbone of the company.
