I worked at Ford Motor Co. of Canada full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

great training and one on one to help you understand the responsibilities of your role. Decent pay and an open door policy. majority of the answers are given to you, the rest is up to you to research within a given time frame. If you don't have the answer, your team lead or a supervisor is more than willing to jump on it as soon as possible to find the answer for you.

    Cons

as a CSR, you are the first person to customer reaches. you have to tell people 'NO' a lot, but this is common in this line of work when you deal with car warranties.this position can be a little stressful, but you learn to get past that.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

there isn't too much advice upper management that I would provide, but I do think that customer service representatives do need more access to certain programs. As a customer service manager, things were fantastic!

I worked at Ford Motor Co. of Canada

    Pros

    Forward looking company
The people were great, the facility was top notch and there was lots of room for movement and learning.

    Cons

Middle Management will have a hard time moving into upper management roles as it is saturated with long time ford veterans that still have 10 to 15 years before retirement

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep in mind that Canada is a much different market than the USA and structure the marketing, incentives and strategy accordingly

I have been working at Ford Motor Co. of Canada full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay is great, benefits are ok, but not what they were before. I believe Ford is heading in the right direction to produce products the customer wants with great quality.

    Cons

Went through a plant closure and layoff (now relocated) .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the hourly employees up to date...we would like to know whats going on instead of living with rumours

I have been working at Ford Motor Co. of Canada full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Emphasis on work-life balance very good. Interesting and challenging assignments. Management is approachable and wants to do the right thing (mostly). Team-work environment is exceptionally strong and employees are great to work with.

    Cons

Great ideas and plans are created, but execution sometimes comes up short.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Constant rotation of senior executives from the U.S. or elsewhere results in too much short-term thinking.

I worked at Ford Motor Co. of Canada as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

    - Friendly environment. Good culture. Everyone communicates with each other well.
    - Frequent feedback on performance.
    - Flexible work hours

    Cons

    - Developing an huge reliance on temporary workers; number of interning employees have more than doubled in the past few years. It's great from an education viewpoint (I myself was an intern there), but it might create issues in the long run for positions to have frequent turnover.

I worked at Ford Motor Co. of Canada as a contractor (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    - great people
    - excellent pay
    - above average benefits
    - suitable perks

It was more about the people around me that made the job enjoyable. It really does matter who your work with.

    Cons

    - lack of proper training
    - too much "forced" overtime
    - understaffed most of the time

Other than some people doing significantly more work than others, there aren't much cons.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the feedback given by employees.

I have been working at Ford Motor Co. of Canada full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    - Money was alright but nothing like what it was before the COLA.

    Cons

    - Line jobs are very unbalanced (i.e. some jobs are a breeze and have tons of down-time between vehicles while others are very intense and require non-stop work).

    - The management doesn't care about the health of their workers. I complained several times about a job that was hurting me but nobody seemed to care.

    - Shift work with a rotation every 2 weeks.

    - New pay structure means employees start at 60% of regular wage and earn full wage after 10 years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work with the lowest people on the totem pole to make this a better place to work.

I worked at Ford Motor Co. of Canada

    Pros

Decent salary and benefit. Nice brand name

    Cons

A toxic work environment. Unprofessional and angry workers, especially the unions. Ford Canada as a company is a decent and respectful place to work but the Oakville plant is different from what the company. People are difficult to work with and a lot of discrimination, and unprofessional workers. I wont be surprise if they get involve in a major law suit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to employees moral. People are not happy and hate working in the oakville plant
