I worked at Ford Motor Co. of Canada full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

great training and one on one to help you understand the responsibilities of your role. Decent pay and an open door policy. majority of the answers are given to you, the rest is up to you to research within a given time frame. If you don't have the answer, your team lead or a supervisor is more than willing to jump on it as soon as possible to find the answer for you.

    Cons

as a CSR, you are the first person to customer reaches. you have to tell people 'NO' a lot, but this is common in this line of work when you deal with car warranties.this position can be a little stressful, but you learn to get past that.

    Advice to Management

there isn't too much advice upper management that I would provide, but I do think that customer service representatives do need more access to certain programs. As a customer service manager, things were fantastic!

    Pros

Forward looking company The people were great, the facility was top notch and there was lots of room for movement and learning.

    Cons

Middle Management will have a hard time moving into upper management roles as it is saturated with long time ford veterans that still have 10 to 15 years before retirement

    Advice to Management

Keep in mind that Canada is a much different market than the USA and structure the marketing, incentives and strategy accordingly

    Pros

This is a great place in case you wanna take a break from good work. Its slow paced and mainly work is with existing technologies. No growth and the hiring is mainly as contracting.

    Cons

culture is fine. but as contractor you would be second class worker bee. Not much movement as far as career goes. Also the contract rate wont move much over years.

I have been working at Ford Motor Co. of Canada full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay is great, benefits are ok, but not what they were before. I believe Ford is heading in the right direction to produce products the customer wants with great quality.

    Cons

Went through a plant closure and layoff (now relocated) .

    Advice to Management

Keep the hourly employees up to date...we would like to know whats going on instead of living with rumours

I have been working at Ford Motor Co. of Canada full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Emphasis on work-life balance very good. Interesting and challenging assignments. Management is approachable and wants to do the right thing (mostly). Team-work environment is exceptionally strong and employees are great to work with.

    Cons

Great ideas and plans are created, but execution sometimes comes up short.

    Advice to Management

Constant rotation of senior executives from the U.S. or elsewhere results in too much short-term thinking.

  7. Long hours of monotonous labour. Employees are nothing but a number.

I have been working at Ford Motor Co. of Canada full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Money was alright but nothing like what it was before the COLA.

    Cons

    - Line jobs are very unbalanced (i.e. some jobs are a breeze and have tons of down-time between vehicles while others are very intense and require non-stop work). - The management doesn't care about the health of their workers. I complained several times about a job that was hurting me but nobody seemed to care. - Shift work with a rotation every 2 weeks. - New pay structure means employees start at 60% of regular wage and earn full wage after 10 years.

    Advice to Management

Work with the lowest people on the totem pole to make this a better place to work.

    Pros

Decent salary and benefit. Nice brand name

    Cons

A toxic work environment. Unprofessional and angry workers, especially the unions. Ford Canada as a company is a decent and respectful place to work but the Oakville plant is different from what the company. People are difficult to work with and a lot of discrimination, and unprofessional workers. I wont be surprise if they get involve in a major law suit.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to employees moral. People are not happy and hate working in the oakville plant

  9. Great Place to Work

    Pros

Great people to work with, lots of opportunity to learn. Easy to obtain help when needed.

    Cons

Im on a contract with no benefits or pension. It would be nice to know if the position I hold is going to become permanent.

    Advice to Management

  10. Great learning opportunity, limited opportunity for advancement

    Pros

You get to work on and contribute to challenging projects. Ford Finance has good reputation within the finance community. There is a real sense of teamwork within Ford, with many bright and capable people whom want to make the Company successful. Base pay and benefits are competitive.

    Cons

Management is prone to "analysis paralysis" and at times is incapable of making a decision in fear of making a mistake. Variable compensation is poor at the analyst and lower level management positions and does not reflects individual performance. Too many senior positions are filled with long service employees whom should have [been] retired years ago and are ineffective (merely information filters and word-smithers).

    Advice to Management

Overhaul the compensation system to attract and retain high calibre employees. Create more opportunities to develop employees including job rotations in other functional areas.
