I had a great experience at Ford and learned a lot about working in a large company.

I worked at Ford Motor Company as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The atmosphere at Ford is very relaxing and laid back. There are fair work hours and a wide variety of projects and areas to work in if you do not enjoy your current one. My co-workers and supervisor were very kind and helpful.

    Cons

Decision making is very slow and getting special software onto your computer can take days to get approved. It is also easy to feel like just a face in the crowd because the company is so large. It is also easy to find yourself with not much to do.

I worked at Ford Motor Company full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Due to the company global scale, you have the opportunity to work in other countries and many different functions. Compensation is good.

    Cons

Work/life balance is nonexistent. Even though the company promotes it as a core value. Benefits are not as good as in the past. If you move from a field position to an office position it's going to affect your previous benefits (E.g. car expenses).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Even though the changes made in many aspects of the company culture, it is still far behind the "coolness" an "easy going" approach of other companies.
