    Pros

Pay and benefits are very competitive.
Management is flexible to different working arrangements (flexible scheduling, telecommuting).
One can see their work in action is real products.

    Cons

One must be prepared to drop everything to resolve assembly plant issues.
Working in a global team requires extra care and attention to details and timing.

    Pros

The products are exciting and most of the employees are passionate about the company and the automotive industry in general. The challenging work, strong benefits, flexible schedules, relaxed atmosphere, and friendly coworkers make Research & Advanced Engineering at Ford a great place to work.

    Cons

The extremely large size of the company does lead to some amount of annoying bureaucracy; however, they seem to do a decent job with this in general. There is little turnover at the company (a positive that speaks to the quality of the organization); however, this also makes it difficult to move up quickly since there is always a large pool of talented people who have been with the company a long time.

    Advice to Management

I would like to see some more capital investment in our research facilities and office buildings as they have fallen behind and while functional are outdated and are not representative of the world class company that Ford is.

    Pros

Market average compensation (base, raises, bonuses, benefits, 401k matching, investment assistance)
    Tuition reimbursement
Flexible work arrangements / telecommuting availability / fair work/life balance
    Training opportunities

    Cons

Extremely outdated facilities and interior working structures (Dearborn)
Difficulty pushing through bureaucracy / inefficient standard policies and norms
Conservative, risk-averse culture with employees who have worked at Ford for many years and seem stuck in old ways

    Advice to Management

Continue to guide culture toward acceptance of innovative ideas and away from bureaucracy. Update facilities (seriously!); the resources and structures employees are asked to work in/with are far from ideal.

    Pros

good and smart people. growth opportunities are available,

    Cons

too much IT bureaucracy, bonus and salary no longer competitive

    Advice to Management

bonuses in 1999/2000 twice as large with a third more employee. The profits we're making are as much now with a third less employees! Guidance for 2015 is a record year, I doubt we'll have record profit sharing though. Also, it is widely understood that GM and FCA are paying more.....

    Pros

The company offers tuition reimbursement, flex time, and telecommuting options. Tuition reimbursement is available as soon as you start out, flex time and telecommuting need to be negotiated though. Depending on where in the company you work you can find many leading edge projects.

    Cons

Very slow changing company culture that is outdated, the buildings are all cube farms, exercise facilities are offsite, and many buildings lack cafeterias.

    Advice to Management

Take cues from the newer start up tech companies out there and try to design a work environment and culture closer to them. All the buildings should offer cafeteria's with decent food (try getting restaurants from the local area to come in and cook), buildings should offer a locker room at the very least. Bikes for employees to ride to the nearby restaurants would also be nice. Finally the more open areas a worksite offers the better the change of employees collaborating.
