I have been working at Ford Motor full-time for less than a year
Pros – Ford Motor Company is on the cutting edge of Information Technology in many areas including Agile, Big Data and various Cloud offerings (public, private and hybrid);
Their vehicle lineup is fresh and of consistently high-quality, backed by industry-leading R&D, Design, Development, Production, Marketing and Sales;
Once hired, there are a wealth of professional and personal development opportunities, and they strive to promote wrk/life balance;
ONE Team, ONE Plan, ONE Goal
Cons – The push for collaboration and cooperation often translates to meetings and more meetings;
Now that the recession is over and the threat of going under has faded, some of the old practices are beginning to creep back in -- caution, hierarchical thinking, fear of failure...but these are isolated and the things we do right still outweigh the negatives
Advice to Senior Management – Do whatever it takes to hold onto the lean, energetic, decisive culture that emerged after Way Forward
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

I have been working at Ford Motor full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Best health insurance benefits of any employer I've ever worked for...bar none.
Cons – All about getting the numbers for production, workers are only tools to be used as hard and as long as possible then find a replacement. The company has no HEART. Communication is pathetic. The Union is unified only in name; no one in the leadership knows how to rally the rank and file.
Advice to Senior Management – Have a more humane approach to the line workers. Stop looking to blame and start looking for cooperative solutions. I know it's difficult and it takes two, but you're the ones with the power to initiate the change.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

I worked at Ford Motor full-time for more than a year
Pros – Stable job, good salary, personal performance and company performance related bonuses, nice vacation packages, purchased vacation, pension plans, company matching funds, etc.
Slow yet steady pace. You can relax without anyone chasing you. Just be careful not to relax too much as to allow your performance to slip, hahaha.
This is a Car and Truck company. You will be reminded of that, whether your duties are or not related to building cars or trucks.
If you happen to get hired from college, you will be treated generally well.
Cons – Daily Grind: Meetings, Meeting, Meetings. If you are a General Salary Grade employee, expect 2-3 meetings a day, lasting from half an hour to one our each, on average. If you are Leadership Level (manager), expect your entire day to be in meetings, some of your time slots will be double- and triple-booked with meetings, you will have to select the "important" one to go to and skip out the others. The more senior employee you are, the more meetings you have.
Expect a lot of "Process" overhead - maintaining company-established policies, and procedures by doing reading, research, collaborating with others, hosting meetings, etc.
Company Culture is old and stale. People are old as well it seems that no one under 35-40 works there, except Ford College Graduates (collegiate hiring program). More than half of all people are overweight, it is sad. There are no colors in the workplace, things are dull and gray. Gray cubes.
Onsite dining: mediocre menu choices for food, although hamburgers are typically fine - I was always able to finish those every time, unlike mediocre reheated-like pizza. Create your own Sandwich bar seems to be hit or miss, depending on the building and your choices.

It takes a while to know what's going on around you, if you are not quick on your feet. It takes a special person to work at Ford for long, as it is not all too exciting. It's more like treading, pleasing the boss, hitting your objectives.
Advice to Senior Management – If you have lower performing employees, take some time to figure out what makes them tick, what they are lacking and if you can help. Maybe there is hope. Poking and prodding employees as it is happening now, is not a very effective way of leading. Although I get it -- managers are very busy and it is a shame there isn't much time for more personal supervisor-employee relationship.
Globally, I would thus suggest - scale down on process, find a way to have less meetings, find a way to place people closer into jobs they want to do.
On a team level, spend more time with your employees, especially newcomers, such as hires from collegiate program (Ford College Graduates).

I have been working at Ford Motor full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Great people, strong commitment to communities around the world, wide breadth of career opportunities, challenges on a scale you won't find in smaller organizations.
Cons – Highly risk averse culture and tendency for hierarchical buy-in requires more time and persistence to get things done. You have to have an appreciation for this to avoid frustration and burn out.
Advice to Senior Management – Continue the cultural transformation that Alan started, and embrace the changes required to be a growing business.
