    Pros

Pay, insurance plan, guys on the floor

    Cons

Upper management like to beat down it's employees. To the point they are afraid to leave. Or any education they may have is useless outside of the plant.

    Advice to Management

Change the culture of your plants. encourage marketable education. What goes around comes around. A good man leaves a good man will come with outside experience, to fill the position .

    Pros

Stable industry. Senior management is improving.

    Cons

Below market in wages/benefit. Hours/rotating shift. Excessive turnover in management. Beliefs/Values are strong, but merely paper that isn't translated to the culture promoted.

    Advice to Management

Need strategy to hold top talent rather than keeping those willing to work below market value, because you want it.

    Pros

Excellent pay and benefits; workplaces are clean and the company's attitude toward employee safety is the best I've experienced. Good supervision and values, a family company. Dave Fuhrmann is an excellent CEO

    Cons

Shift work in plants can be a challenge. Some of the work can be physically hard. Everyone seems to be a Packer fan.

    Advice to Management

Use our talents. We all care that Foremost Farms continues to be an exceptional cooperative.

    Pros

Immediate supervisor is great. Excellent co-workers. Reasonable work load--so far.

    Cons

Very poor communication. Slogan is "Question Everything" Reality is "Question Nothing". Top down direction where leadership=being good follower. No opportunity for advancement. You're either part of the clique or NOBODY. Solution to every problem is more vice presidents. Training is very poorly organized or non-existent.

    Advice to Management

You have lots of good, talented employees, but treat them like they are serfs. There have been numerous surveys discussing the poor communication and employee treatment and all have been ignored.

    Pros

The pay is fairly good and the benefits package is better than average. Foremost Farms is well managed and positioned to weather even the worst economic situations.

    Cons

Opportunities for promotion can be hard to come by. That being said, they will promote from within when they can.

  8. Miserable, hours inconsistent, 8 hour turnarounds
