It was a ride!

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Forever 21

ProsI loved the feeling of all the workers being close to one another and sharing all the gossip. Helping people out was rewarding too.

ConsThey never kept to their hours and would keep me over 12 hours without a break even though I would only be scheduled for 8. They would call me in for times that I could not work constantly. I would get scheduled on days that I had requested and got permission to take off, they also scheduled me for days that I could not work because of school. Once they found out I was leaving they promised me a raise which never came.

IF YOU CAN HANDLE THIS, YOU CAN HANDLE ANYTHING

Visual Merchandising Manager (Current Employee)

I have been working at Forever 21 full-time

ProsNot much. Visuals USUALLY have a descent work schedule; teaches you how to work in constant changing fast pace environment. Good for experience only in my opinion.

Conslow pay;no sick days or vacation days;takes a year to just have 40 hours of personal time off;large stores are hard to manage visually;lack of support from operations team usually; growth is hard past management; turn over rate is extremely high;can be stressful for most people.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you do not like the company, then do not be a part of the team. Job is already hard enough!

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Young Mentality

Assistant Manager (Former Employee)
San Diego, CA

I worked at Forever 21 full-time for more than a year

ProsAffordable clothes and updated on new trends with an associate discount.

ConsUnfortunately more cons than pros. Young mentality to the company with hiring managers that act like high school kids. They do not avid by the management rule of not hanging out with associates at all. Many do and pick favorites. Ive works and helped many stores while I managed and unfortunately its a common thing. Pay is fine for what your applying for and experience. Truck process is slower than I'd prefer. No drive from the high school kids that they give jobs to and all they do is talk all day and management does not enforce productivity. And way too much drama from associate side and management. Like going to high school but getting paid for it.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire mature managers and most importantly one that care about your business! I was myself a manager and was disappointed in the amount of childish behaviors and unfair treatment to their power and inconsistant and unfair managing to ones below them. Too much gossip happens in the back room without your knowledge. (This message would be best for the District Manager to apply.)

Sales Associate (Current Employee)
Lawrenceville, NJ

I have been working at Forever 21 part-time for more than a year

ProsFashion forward, cool people, laid back. Always busy unless it is the early morning. Be prepared to work though!! Don't be a lazy.

ConsI wish we could have a longer break and this might only be particular to my store, but there is a lot of unfairness among the managers (not to the associates, between them)

Costumers can be very rude and it is a lot of hard work for crappy pay but you can easily move up.

Advice to Senior ManagementAll managers should have a say and do what they preach - do not be hypocrites.
