I worked at Forever 21 part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    Friendly Co-Workers
Fast-Paced, so not much downtime (Might be a con if your not up for that)
    10% off

    Cons

    Rude Management (no respect)
When I started I was getting ~35 hours a week and making a good amount of money, slowly started to decrease, everyone is now down to about 1-2 days a week (5-10 hours a week).
Would only allow us 1 request-off day every two months.
When I was hired, they told me it was a great place to advance in the field of retail, but not a single person i knew that worked there got their wage increased at all, and they never promoted from within. They brought managers in from other stores and we had to teach those managers about how our store runs!
Would put the schedule up on Saturdays, so I would have one days notice on my schedule for the week, but would make me request a day off two weeks in advance so they had enough notice.
Management would use write-ups as threats at least 3 times a day.
Management would speak down to employees.
Complications with Payroll more than once.
    HIGHLY stressful.
    Only 10% off... Really F21?
Never knew what time I would get out. For a 3-10 shift, I could leave anywhere from 10 to 2am, with no notice.
    Mostly closing shifts.
    Rude customers.
Developed system of "On-Call" shifts without telling the employees so I would have to wait around all day to see if I could even work that day.
Dust bunnies everywhere, I always left work with itchy eyes and a sore throat from the dust.
Hated that place. Glad I'm gone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Speak to your employees with RESPECT. Then, maybe the employees wouldn't take their frustration out on the job and the customers would have a better time shopping. I spent more time cleaning clothing angrily, because our "Touch-Bases" consisted of threats, than helping customers. Think, who is the main demographic of your employees? College girls. We don't like being treated without respect and are going to give attitude about it. Treat us nicely, teach us what to do and what not to do, and if we have a smile on our faces while we work, then the customers will feed off of that energy.

    2. Maybe hire certain people for on call, and have regulars with the same shifts every week. There would be less call-outs if regulars had the same days/hours each week.

    3. Allow us to have more requested off days. We have lives too. We are going to call out if you don't let us have that day to do what we need to do. If I'm giving you the proper notice, you can definitely find coverage!
