I have been working at Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A. full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Good people. Excellent job security.

    Cons

20% below salary of surrounding area. Idiots work there in positions of importance. This leads to mistakes the cost people their health/ life. Individual unit management is not held accountable for poor safety. Once you are unit manager you are there for life no matter how incompetent you are. If you want to get work done you must do it all yourself. There is no technical expertise in the plant.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employee experienced work force, not just Asian students fresh out of engineering school with no experience. Adding safety officer to each plant was excellent decision...too bad it took a fatality to finally implement that position.

I have been working at Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A. full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good employee benefits (health insurance), job stability, employee retention. Company in great financial standing, periodically expanding, creating more jobs and opportunities.

    Cons

Typical 9-5 desk job in a corporate setting, no room for promotion and very strict salary guideline which in turn represses employee motivation to strive to do better. Does not stress higher educational degrees (mba, phd).

I worked at Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A. full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The benefits are comparable to government jobs, they will take care of you as long as you're loyal. Job is very secure, rarely will fire and never lay off because the company is so profitable. Management will recognize loyal employees and your compensation will reflect that.

    Cons

On the downside of job security is that everyone knows, so seasoned employees become complacent. All the work is loaded onto newer/younger employees eager to work and then they burnout.
There's very little room for growth opportunities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize that your department's work isn't evenly distributed and that something should be done to fix that
