    I have been working at Forrester Research full-time

    Pros

    Prestige, frequency and variety of challenge, PR opportunities, large base of smart analysts to draw upon.

    Cons

    Poor management. Europe treated as a consultancy not research entity by US. Machiavellian research topic allocation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Take some of the advice from Forrester reports and apply it to your own organisation. Make research directors and practise leaders more accountable. Implement upward appraisals. Tailor roles to staff skills.

    Pros

    Great work life balance; very friendly environment mostly made up of smart quirky people;
    The company seems to finally have figured out a real strategy in the past year and now heading towards that direction with positive results;
    The job creates the opportunity to have C-level discussions and develop a good professional network.

    Cons

    General climate of condescension from management with the upper hierarchy manifesting with not speaking up the truth;
    The "ecosystem" as they call it turns out to be a real jungle, redundant and made baroque to say the least with a number of middle figures of doubtful value;
    Career paths are still quite blurred and promotions attributed on an uncertain basis, which leaves a lot of wiggle room for some less-than-professional middle managers to push forward their 'protegés'.
    Success in this company is more than any other I've seen in the past structurally based on personal relationships - the fact of having or not a personal good relationship with an analyst might make or break your business, since they still have a great degree of freedom on deciding for whom they have time or not;
    Although there are many exceptions, working with a good deal of analysts will feel to you like turning into the agent of some tyrannic teenage pop star, so you'd better start practicing your zen.

    Pros

    Des gens biens / un savoir de qualité. Le meilleur endroit pour toucher à différents sujets et trouver ceux que vous aimez le plus et sur lesquels vous voudrez travailler lors de vos prochains postes.

    Good people / good knowledge. Best place to look at multiple topics and find those you like for your next move /

    Cons

    Les perspectives d'évolution sont limitées et personne ne suit votre carrière, des changements constants dans l'organisation et la stratégie / le commandement et les différents rôles ont évolué bizarrement durant la dernière année.

    Evolution is limited and no one is following your career path / constant change in the org. And strategy / commission and role have evolved strangely in the past year. /

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Ayez plus de considération pour vos employés, regardez-les et écoutez-les et si vous n'y parvenez pas ils vous quitteront sous peu.

    Be more aware of your people, look and listen at them if not they will leave soon enough.

    Pros

    Forrester est bon dans son domaine, mais l'ampleur et la profondeur de sa recherche font pâle figure comparées à la concurrence

    Forrester is good at what it covers, but the breadth and depth of the research pales in comparison to the competition

    Cons

    Forrester a décidé de poursuivre son investissement dans le soutien aux personnes âgées en Europe ce qui entraîne un nivellement pas le bas de la qualité de service à la clientèle. Apparemment beaucoup de clients ont décidé suite à cela de ne pas renouveler leur contrat.

    Forrester has decided to longer invest in senior resources in Europe which leads to a "dumbing-down" of the caliber of service to clients. Seems like many have decided not to renew contracts as a result.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
