    Growth, challenge, networking

    Senior Advisor (Current Employee)
    London, England (UK)

    ProsGrowth, challenge, networking, client base

ConsIndividual performance is diluted by the fact that goals are heavily team performance impacted, and the 'matrix' concept is a tremendous dis-incentive.,

Advice to Senior ManagementGrowth in the past 4 years has outpaced management's progress in evolving the resourcing and performance measurement criteria. The leadership needs to upgrade and update their thinking.

No recognition no matter the effort, no opportunities - beware!

    (Former Employee)
    London, England (UK)

ProsGood name to have on your resume. Fun, intelligent people to work with, relaxed working environment

ConsVery few opportunities for advancement/promotions, while on the surface it seems to be the case that there are many. Forrester is a highly political place (even though this is only typical of a much larger company) - you can only win if you know the game and play by the rules. There is an unbelievable amount of red-tape to jump through in order to accomplish the smallest task (at the expense of productivity and quality), and employees are encouraged to invent more "processes" in order to receive praise/promotions, which is extremely counterproductive. The HR department is bloated with unnecessary made-up positions. The turn-over is very high, no doubt due to inadequate level of compensation compared to other similar companies, and no appreciation whatsoever for the hard effort and the extra hours.

Advice to Senior ManagementSlash half of HR, reduce the number of processes and instead focus on the quality of deliverables.

    Working at Forrester

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    London, England (UK)

ProsForrester gives you the opportunity to work with a very smart bunch of analysts, has a great data library and it's a very good place to start your career in the market reserach world.

Consthe managemnet at Forrester is terrible, the atmos[here is one of competition rather than collaboration and the focus is on winning advisory and consulting work than delivering syndicated research.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe management nees to communciate better with employees, understand their day-to-day responsibilites and issues and provide support in developing their careers

    A great place to learn.

    Consultant (Former Employee)
    London, England (UK)

ProsAn intellectually challenging work environment with lots of learning opportunities.
Great people to work with, Forrester employees tend to be really nice and friendly .

ConsNo career development path, the initiatives in this space just don't work and there's no follow up on the review systems in place.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe bonus compensation system is demotivating for anyone other than analyst or a sales person.

Analyst who overperform on their advisory goal get compensated directly for this, sales gets a commission on all their deals, all other employees only get a bonus if the company performs according to plan without taking into account their personal performance.

Wonderful company but very frustrating long term.

    Analyst (Former Employee)
    London, England (UK)

Pros- Great place to gain a diverse range of experience on IT usage in different industries. Job varies greatly from day to day offering a huge amount of variety
    - Very motivated and intelligent co-workers
    - Generally very good atmosphere in London office
    - Nice office, great location in central London
    - Good work life balance, and allowed flexible work hours
    - Well recognized brand
    - Opportunities to work with great clients (most of whom are Global 500)
    - Regular company communication and updates
    - Very good pay package especially for a company of its size

Cons- Very change averse (unless change is being dictated by exec management). Swimming against the stream will get you absolutely nowhere
    - Culture encouraged by Colony around competition for consulting work leads to constant turf wars and coverage area fiefdoms. Extreme arrogance from certain analysts is tolerated and seemingly even encouraged
    - A lot of internal meetings that lead to more internal meetings -- rarely accomplish anything and are often just a chance for people to winge at impotent middle management
    - Bonus structure was ridiculous
    - Lack of local management and thus control over career trajectory
    - Incredibly US centric

Advice to Senior ManagementTake a step back and give middle management more control. Moral at the company continues to decline and many believe that executive management has become completely out of touch with the day to day challenges and realities of most employees.

A good place to work if...

    Consultant (Former Employee)
    London, England (UK)

ProsGreat networking opportunities, good brand awarness, learning within the organization, good exposure, good balance working/private life, friendly environment, dynamic and international environment.

ConsNo career development plan in place. No clear and direct impact on bonuses. Too many reorganizations.

Advice to Senior ManagementTo think and plan > 3 months. Invest more in people development.
