Pros – Causal work environmnent. Employees are free to work at their own pace.
Cons – Lack of support from management

I worked at Forsyth County
Pros – My co-workers and immediate supervisors were generally both technically competent and pleasant to work with. For the most part we were provided with all of the equipment needed to do the job safely and efficiently. Training and professional growth opportunities were above average compared to what I have seen and heard about other Emergency Services providers.
Cons – The director is a micro-manager who does not solicit input from even his direct reports until after he has made a decision. Decision and policy making is very reactive, rather than proactive "knee-jerk" is the term that comes to mind. Morale among operations division personnel is currently horrible (Summer 2011) due to a recent series of policy changes that make a large difference in the day-to-day activities of the agency, all made with no solicitation of input or feedback from line personnel.
Advice to Senior Management – The agency is too large to micromanage. Forsyth County Emergency Services has good personnel and good field managers. Allow them to do their jobs without constantly putting every action under a microscope. Continue to develop opportunities for the personnel with 3-7 years experience - these are your next supervisors and managers, and they are currently leaving the agency in droves!
