I have been working at Fort Valley State University full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

State benefits are great - insurance, retirement fund, the ability to take courses at state schools free of charge.

    Cons

FVSU excels at redistributing work when someone quits, retires, or is fired. They have had a list of "openings" for years that have gone unfilled, because the college doesn't want to spend the money. Forget about a raise, it isn't going to happen, no matter what promises are made. They will literally work the best employees to death - one had a heart attack, other have severe health problems - while letting slackers slide because they are related to someone in charge.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to eliminate the nepotism and graduate favoritism and hire qualified workers who actually work. Stop punishing hard workers by putting more and more on them. Employees with vacation time accrued who need a break should be allowed to take their vacation time.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
