I have been working at Fortino's Supermarkets part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great staff and great in-house management; Flexible hours for part-timers; customers are fun to interact with; clean and well organized retail floor and warehouse areas; plenty of bathrooms for full-timers to hide in and take 30 minute naps; A/C in the summer, heat in the winter; centrally located; many great features to take advantage of, sushi bar, carvery, pizzeria, soup and salad, etc.

    Cons

Union dues: for what? oh, right... full-timers; lethargic and slower than necessary decision making, top to bottom; salary/wage for part-timers (adult or student) is the lowest legally allowable in the province; boring, repetitive work; picking up after grown human beings; hard to get full-time employment/advancement; revolving door employee pool.

    Advice to Management

Stream-line decision making, keep your eyes on problematic and lackadaisical personnel including department managers.

I have been working at Fortino's Supermarkets full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Well paying, busy fast paced environment. With lot of responsibilities. It's good to be a part of a growing company that's healthy and looking to expand. Always room for career advancement for those that work hard enough.

    Cons

Sometimes the stress is overwhelming. Too much to do not enough time. With very high expectations from management. If you don't perform your out, simple as that. No union at management level. Lots of pressure. But when you over come it it is very satisfying

    Pros

    Fellow co-workers were nice.

    Cons

-There was no employee lounge. - Quiet environment you stick to yourself. -You didn't get discounts on groceries. -The only way you would see an increase in wage is through how many hours you work. If you reach a certain amount of hours each time it increases by a few cents each time.

    Advice to Management

    Better wages for your employees.
