    Pros

    Great flexibility and great experience.

Low pay with lots of hours.

Increase pay to interns to increase motivation.

    Pros

Reasonably flexible investment approach, people willing to get creative. There are a number of very smart individuals, not all, but most.

    Cons

A little unstable, can make jerky reactions to markets and major strategic changes based on temporary market conditions. I was satisfied with my pay package but have heard from a lot of people who weren't.

    Advice to Management

Make it a more consistent environment. Turnover is a killer for a business like this, keep your strongest performing employees, don't lose them over a few dollars of comp, continue to prune the weeds like you do.

    Advice to Management

Better integration amongst groups, including managers.

I worked at Fortress Investment Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay is reasonable and hours aren't terrible as long as you are efficient and can get your work done People are really nice

    Cons

While the people are really nice there is a really weird culture that isn't social at all. It seems the system has gotten so bureaucratic that a lot of people are leaving for more entrepreneurial environments. There is no buddy system or training program. They throw you right in and if you make mistakes it is on you.

    Advice to Management

Consider starting a more formal training program and more office events so people get to know each other. There is a group of really social interesting people, and a group of people who won't respond to a hello in the hall so more social interactions would make a difference. Otherwise Fortress has an extremely bright future!

    Pros

Upper management in back and front office is very responsive. Friendly group of co-workers

    Cons

    Moving across divisions near impossible

I worked at Fortress Investment Group as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Interned with the treasury and operations team over the summer. There is a large learning curve and you are thrown into the fire right from the start. If you are willing to put in the hours and go out of your comfort zone to build relationships with the people you work with you will learn a ton. Team members are very close and really try to create a family atmosphere which makes the long hours not too bad. The whole office had a work hard play hard mentality. Everyone there is going to be honest with you and tell you when you have done a good job, when you need to step it up, and how you need to improve. Everyone is very knowledgeable and is more than willing to share what they know and their experiences with the interns. Work on your excel skills, learn VBA, and don't be scared to ask questions.

    Cons

The first week or two is going to be challenging as you try to get your bearings but that is to be expected at a place like Fortress.

I worked at Fortress Investment Group as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

I worked relatively long hours considering I had to commute from Connecticut. But overall they provided good training, and great pay for an intern.

    Cons

I sometimes was reduced to doing paper work day after day. The work got repetitive sometimes, but they would put you at different desks to mix it up.

    Advice to Management

I would want to integrate with more of the company, rather than just on one floor.
