    Pros

part time:$5 employee meal discounts at your location, if full time you get $150 meal card per month
    great coworkers, flexible scheduing

    Cons

frugal with pay raise and promotions are unlikely, unwilling to hire people full time
    no benefits for part timers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

stop making empty promises about pay raises, promotions and extra hours. stop the favoritism and promote the people that are actually deserving of them

I have been working at Forty Niner Shops part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

You get some work experience. Your job will be located on campus so it is convenient to work before/after class.
You will be on campus anyway, so it is nice to work there and make money as well.
You get a $5 meal voucher everday you work.

    Cons

There is poor training. It felt rushed and I had to learn my first few days, without the manager present and during the first few days of classes.
Same expectations as a corporate Starbucks with none of the benefits. You are getting minimum wage for a job that usually pays more than that at a corporate store.
You can only work up to 20 hours a week, and although I had 5 days with full availability I was only getting 9 hours.
You meal voucher only valid at the shop you work at (food service).

I worked at Forty Niner Shops part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Discounts (primarily for the convenience stores)
    Convenient (location, scheduling, store hours)

    Cons

    Low pay
    Few hours
    Managers that don't care

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider giving promotions to those who are best suited for the job, not just those who will "probably be employed longer" due to graduation dates. I have seen incredibly qualified people be passed up for a promotion that was given to a younger candidate who quit shortly after receiving the promotion.

    Cons

Pay is minimum wage. It could be more.

I have been working at Forty Niner Shops part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The convenience of being on campus and management works with your class schedule, as a cashier this job is fun and carefree.

    Cons

Only one opportunity to move up in the company and then stuck at that level, 20 hour limit per work week so not for someone living on their own, management does not communicate with employees well if at all, customers are mostly students

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need more company culture or something to bond employees other than not wanting to work there.

I worked at Forty Niner Shops part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Convenient, discounts, $5 meal voucher, connect with other students.

    Cons

There is no support system. Too much hassle for little pay and little hours. Only care about making profits and not about employee morale and wellbeing. All about politics and favoritism.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to start taking into consideration your employees. Your company is based on customer service and happy employees means happy customers. Favoritism between departments is unacceptable, whether dining or bookstore, everybody should be treated the same.
