Pros
It's a nice place with a casual atmosphere, a good staff discount on all the products and on site daycare.
Cons
A very lateral company with room to move but chances of growing are limited. The office is also a warehouse that was converted so during the winter you can go days without actually seeing sunlight as you enter and leave before and after the sun is up.
Advice to Senior Management
Constructive feed back, and need to lose the casual management approach - the atmosphere is good, but management needs to draw the line between the team locker room and running the business. Too complacent there.
Pros
Staff discounts, informal atmosphere and relaxed dress code, free parking outside of downtown, easy access to senior leadership level, competitive compensation, day care and basic gym w. trainer on site. Deep product expertise among the merchandising team.
Cons
ongoing tensions and infighting among senior executives has fostered a dysfuntional, counterproductive, and highly reactive environment with an abundance of ol' boys mentality and fingerpointing. Personal bonus-driven, short sighted, old-school management styles prevail. Ambitions to grow and further dominate the marketplace are hampered by real challenges with change management, communication and strategic leadership.
Advice to Senior Management
Summon the courage to be more transparent, engage the management at HQ more and put an end to the infighting among the SVPs. Establish effective strategic leadership capabilities and force the department heads to work together instead of ignoring each other.
Pros
Salary was good, ties into throw money at the problem. Sample sales if you are a sports enthusiast. Community minded organization. On site gym (not great but has one) and on site day care.
Cons
Management was reactive. No thought or planning in what they wanted to accomplish. Too many projects trying to be done all at once. Overloading staff with no thought for what would be produced in the end. Didn't seem to hear what was being said. Answer seemed to be "throw money at the problem"
Advice to Senior Management
Treat people like professionals and thats what you'll get back. Get rid o fthe cliche's and put people in leadership roles who can lead. COMMUNICATION is seriously lacking.
