I have been working at Foster Farms full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The quality of the product and the production facilities is excellent. Their certification is always high and they strive for higher. The support staff in customer service, billing, invoicing and admin are excellent.

    Cons

There are inter-departmental challenges that make getting routine tasks difficult. There are people in key position that are impossible to work with and will make every effort to make others look bad to make themselves look better. Most insiders can tell you who these people are and how to try and work around them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is no training other than going to each production and kill facility. They need a process for training new staff even on how to get through internal challenges. You can complete a similar form for 3 different departments during one task, adding hours and repetition to something that should be streamlined. If you don't like a place that thinks, "this is the way we've always done it" then you are not a fit.

I worked at Foster Farms full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

A lot of hours if you are interested.
Decent blue collar experience, and decent vacation and benefits package.
All sorts of shifts so you can work around your life schedule if you feel the need to.

    Cons

Middle management needs a lot of training on how to handle performance reviews and realize that the "look busy" style of work is easily seen through by employees. Do not hire so many people that the work load becomes to light and you feel bored at your job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

While it is a blue collar work force, management should consider more office etiquette training. To much racism within the middle management.

    Pros

Back in the 90" it was a good company.

    Cons

They promote people who do not have the skills to supervisor positions. Higher levels are one step out the door. Higher level people blame lower people to shift blame. Most people who work at foster farms escaped from the nut house.
