The company was an exciting place to work until it was purchased bt Utica National. The environment immediately changed.

    Pros

You have the option to move around. The majority of managers were really knowledgeable. Great medical insurance coverage.

    Cons

The pay is horrible, and the company goals are impossible to meet unless you are willing to work 50 hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't ask someone to do something you can't.

I worked at Founders Insurance part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great Pay, Great People. Friendly atmosphere. No micro-managing.

    Cons

Business relies on the economy. If the economy is really bad, you may get laid off, like I did.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the great work.

    Pros

Good people to work with, good location and products.

    Cons

High turnover. Lack of staying the course. Changes priorities too often. Significant and obvious dislike among seniors. New Pres communication style is lacking.

    Pros

The company had a nice almost family feel to it. Most everyone knew each other etc. With a local long time management team, the company enjoyed great relationships with business partners.

    Cons

The company was purchased in late 2010 and hasn't been the same. Old story. Big company buys smaller company for many attractive qualities and begins dismantling and or changing what they bought. It's no longer the same place and their results seem to showing some displeasure with those changes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider that what works somewhere else, may not be the best formula here.

    Pros

If you are just starting out as a developer this is a good place to gain experience. You will learn N-Tier architecture

    Cons

An experienced developer will not find much to keep him/her here. They are still using 2.0 framework and you will get permanently attached to a project. The pay rate is about 20% below market rate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the programming tools up to date and try harder to keep senior devs engaged.
