    Good company but long hours

Director of Guest Services (Current Employee)
    Scottsdale, AZ

ProsCoworkers!!!! After spending 11-12 hours a day plus going in on some days off, it all comes down to your colleagues. You see them more than your family. The ability to travel within the company is fun as you advance your career as well.

ConsHours per day. Money is good for what you actually do on a daily basis but pales based on the hours you have to put in. The need to move to undesirable locations in order to pursue advancement.

Good company that cares for its employees, but work-life balance is hard to strike.

    (Current Employee)
    Los Angeles, CA

Pros-Complimentary nights at other Four Seasons hotels (it can be tough to get these, so you often have to know the right people)
    -Great employees and team work
-Good MIT (Manager in Training) program for college grads

Cons-As in all hotel companies, the schedule is horrible. Unless you're in an administrative department you do not know your schedule ahead of time, weekends are precious, holidays are scarce, etc.
-Upper management and executive committee are constantly worried about their bonuses and the budget and therefore under staffing is a chronic issue
-High turnover adds to under staffing
-Having to put in a certain amount of years before receiving a promotion, regardless of performance and merit

Advice to Senior ManagementYou get out what you put in. Stop under staffing the hotels and burning out your employees.

    Wonderful Learning Experience

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe staff is so diverse. The relationships you that build are genuine.

ConsThere has been so many changes in the company, management staff and style particularly.
It seems as if the needs of the employees no longer matter.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe employees have a first hand account of what the guest want and need. Listen to what they have to say. Happy employees make for happy guest.

    Great people, outdated property

    Intern (Former Employee)

ProsThe employees are so friendly and nice, but their thinking is a little outdated. You may be the top in the industry, but you need to keep up with the times in order to stay on top.

ConsNo pay for internships, union discussions and fights are terrible

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed a change in corporate culture - cultivating friendly talent is good, but won't get you far in the long run. Pay your interns.

    Great experience

Sales and Marketing Intern (Current Employee)
    Beverly Hills, CA

ProsGood benefits, good hours, had a really nice manager. Office culture was great, everyone got along really well, but a lot of the times people weren't in the office

ConsA little boring work. I was only an intern and so i didn't get to do a lot of things.

This was a great place to work! Highly recommended!

    Conference Services Manager (Former Employee)
    Chicago, IL

    ProsThe benefits are fantastic
The culture is very family oriented
There is significant room for advancement if you show interest
They have lightened up on the dress code

ConsWork-life balance can be a little "off" depending on what department you work in.

    An Unforgettable Experience

    Massage Therapist (Former Employee)
    Saint Louis, MO

ProsI met and worked alongside many extraordinary individuals. I had the opportunity to work with top of the line equipment and luxury product lines.

ConsIn 6 years there was a decrease in pay more than once, and this was not the hourly minimum wage, but the commission of service for those professionals who hold a license and provide the liability insurance, as well as the high retention and service sales.

Advice to Senior ManagementBetter communication with employees, especially with compensation and changes within the department. More acknowledgement and consideration to those who started employment at the property since opening day.
