Pros
great work environment, easy to collaborate ideas with staff and management. I have enjoyed my interaction with the staff and management.
Cons
Little opportunity for advancement in my field, which is health and wellness. This is not a fault of management, it's more a function of the type of business the Four Seasons is.
Advice to Senior Management
I don't really have much advice for four seasons management, they seem to do a terrific job
Pros
Employee room nights. Great Marketing. Teamwork
Cons
Senior Management
No recognition for employees
Pros
Okay pay and benefits
Support from fellow managers at the same level or one level above
Opportunity to transfer internationally
Cons
Insufficient support from upper management
Delayed performance reviews
Upper management's unwillingness to listen to employee concerns
Advice to Senior Management
Try to lose the pompous, arrogant attitudes and practice what the Founder of Four Seasons preached and built this company on: Treat Others As You Would Like To Be Treated!
Once upon a time this used to be an awesome company where people were treated really well and employees loved coming to work - the culture was so genuine, infectious and very team-oriented.
As the company started rapidly growing these past few years, the core culture values have gradually taken a nose dive. Once the Four Seasons culture and what the company was founded upon is forgotten...... it won't be long before the core standards will start to take a free-fall as well. Hopefully you will get your head out of the sand, check yourselves and avoid being just like any other outfit out there...... just saying!
Pros
career progression
opportunity to travel
job for life
Cons
lack of opportunity to develop in other areas or departments
Advice to Senior Management
build a sense of belonging
Pros
Good team environment and flexible with schedules. Had a great cafeteria for all employees to eat free from. Good benefits.
Cons
Management creates a stressful environment to work in when its not always necessary to do so. Good work often goes unappreciated and management is sometimes overbearing.
Advice to Senior Management
Try and create a less stressful environment to work in. Being overbearing often creates more problems than are necessary.
Pros
Company is growing fast - a lot of great op if you are willing to move. Do not complain or become a thorn - do your job and do it well and they recognize it right away
Cons
The are way behind in technology
The hours will be long
Have to work holidays
Advice to Senior Management
Four Seasons is loosing its way, you used to be leaders in the Industry and now you are letting other small hotel companies take over such a powerful name, its a shame.
Pros
-Good benefits relevant to industry standard
-Challenging, high service environment
Cons
-Complexities and bureaucracy of unionised positions
-Existence of 'not my job culture'
-New employees are disadvantaged by union seniority
-Poor scheduling
-Inconsistency of management decisions
Advice to Senior Management
I would suggest treating new employees as more valuable, as well as recognising a job well done, not just 'room for improvement'. I would recommend that senior management cuts ties with the union, as the benefits for most employees are negligible at most.
Pros
great learning opportunity as quality of food is always the focus. Life work balance is relatively better than the standard in this industry.
Cons
Instructions from senior cooks and management can be contradicting and confusing. New hires have to "tough it out" before being promoted to full-time or even part time.
Pros
.great hourly pay and benefits
Cons
petty managers that work so many hours they make much less than line employees. No chance to move up in the company from a line employee to mgmt. Good is never-ever good enough
Advice to Senior Management
train middle mgt. much better
Pros
free hotel rooms, pay, good insurance
Cons
very difficult to get rooms unless you are in "the know". hiring is so selective depts. are often under-staffed, long and unpredictable hours.
Advice to Senior Management
remember staff have lives.
