I have been working at Four Seasons full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The company treats employees with utmost respect and many of the guests look at the staff as they are family. I have met many wonderful people who express genuine care and concern regarding me and my family

    Cons

The compensation isn't the highest and rate of expansion and growth has been pretty slow. There are plans for future growth but it is mainly focused outside of North America

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As a member of management, it seems that more and more middle management are looking for opportunities outside of the company due to a slow pace of growth. With the plans for all of the expansion in the future, it will be difficult to maintain the culture that has been built over the last 50 years with people that don't understand the culture.

I have been working at Four Seasons

    Pros

Benefits are fairly good, hourly wage is okay -- depending on department -- 95% of employees AND managers are really nice people, doing a good job, and are genuinely happy to be doing what they are doing, where they are doing it!

    Cons

The other 5%. Unfortunately. Hourly wage is not good in a few departments -- and not up to pay scale for immediate area.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Re- examine living wage for all departments. Strive for more of a "democratic" operation..... try to avoid the hierarchy that tends to arise.

    I worked at Four Seasons

    Pros

Competitive salary and great benefits, room for growth internally and ability to transition to different properties or positions. Diverse work environment.

    Cons

Not really many cons. Depending on which department you work in ( I was in F&B), you are on your feet all day but that's to be expected if you are working in a hotel environment. High-end clientele can be demanding.

I have been working at Four Seasons as an intern

    Pros

Incredible industry experience. You get thrown right into to a fast-paced environment with high expectations. Super friendly and welcoming staff. Free lunch everyday. You go through a full orientation program along side new fulltime employees

    Cons

Unpaid internship (I got class credit though)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider a stipend to interns. Working 25+ hours a week for free is a lot to ask for, although students are willing to do it to get experience. Getting a transportation stipend would be nice

I worked at Four Seasons full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

It is great to work for the best hotel company. Employees have tremendous pride and guests and clients love the brand. There is strong potential to advance in your career if you are willing to move. There are significant opportunities to work abroad. It is a very diverse workforce. Management cares for employees, listens to new ideas and implements many employee suggestions. The company requires very high performance standards to meet guest expectations.

    Cons

Career advancement is slow because individuals do not leave their positions very often. You often need to move to another city or country to advance.
