I have been working at Four Seasons full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

You work in a beautiful environment

    Cons

You get to see the worst of humanity. Guests are rude and classless. I have never seen human beings treat others trying to serve them so terribly and with such disdain. Your coworkers are spineless and mediocre. I worked there thinking it would be a great industry to get into and get a degree in hotel management, but I realized no one there had any ambition. Regardless of your position you are nothing more than an indentured servant. There is a great difference between offering sincere customer service and servitude.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have respect for yourself and your employees and the guests will follow.

    Pros

The health insurance provided is actually pretty great.
You learn about what great customer service is all about.

    Cons

You must pay for your own parking if property is downtown
You have little opportunity for advancement unless you travel among properties.
You are subjected to political and corporate BS

I worked at Four Seasons full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

It's a beautiful property and the location is great.

Benefits package. Complimentary nights. The initial compensation is on par with their competitors, however they do not give raises based on merit and promotions with a pay increase are few and far between.

    Cons

Lets just say it starts at the top with the GM and works its way down. Take note of her work ethic and priorities and it will be clear why things are treated in the manner that they are.

HR is a complete joke. You are supposed to be able to go HR and there is supposed to be a high level of confidentiality. This is 100% not the case. On multiple occasions they showed this was not how they operate. Do not take your problems here unless you want them directly taken back to your manager or discussed in the lunch room.

Management depends on your department, but overall growth is not fostered here. Most managers are too busy trying to cover their own rear ends to actually promote within. I watched amazing talent leave this property and FS as a whole because of this. It is made clear that raises are not based on merit, so what is the incentive to continue going above and beyond?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward employees based on merit. Treat employees with dignity and respect. Treat matters confidentially.

I worked at Four Seasons part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

It was a fun place to work nice people always busy.

    Cons

Too much confusion. I was hired to replace a couple of girls and they were never let go. The lady that worked in the office never let them go and when the supervisor came to the area where I was working one day and saw them there. He asked me what are they still doing here? I replied I have no idea I thought they were going to I said she never told they were being let go. So I was let go instead.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To many chiefs. One person needs to take control.

I have been working at Four Seasons as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The work environment is very healthy, and the organization as a whole really cares about the employees. The benefits are also fantastic if you are in a full time position.

    Cons

As an intern, many tasks were not very challenging. It would have been better if I had been exposed to upper level processes as well.
