Pros
,good experience!would work there again
Cons
Long hours,not enough overtime money
Advice to Senior Management
Be more flexible
Pros
Great people, great environment (working on the studio lot). Competent senior staff.
Cons
Opportunities for advancement are limited.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide more areas for advancement.
Pros
Luckily I had a great boss who was supportive and acted as a mentor who helped my professional growth and development.
Cons
General distrust of parent company. HR wasn't always viewed as a resource to provide support to it's employees... Too much politics. Very "top heavy" with executives paid generously while those of us having to do the grunt work weren't paid competitively.
Pros
Great content created; good group of employees; very little bureaucracy compared to other studios in town; not a lot of busywork
Cons
No jobs being added, only replacement of attrition; doesn't have its digital house in order; still plenty of favoritism/nepotism at the top levels
Advice to Senior Management
Take even bigger risks than you already are; don't feel burned by the FIM/Myspace errors, keep forging a strong digital path
Pros
Entertainment industry is fun, get to watch tv
Cons
boring , do the same thing everyday,
Advice to Senior Management
More Vaca days
Pros
great team to work with
Cons
a lot of stress; have to be constantly updated to newest entertainment headlines
Advice to Senior Management
Great management
Pros
Great place for entry level positions.
Cons
Limited upward mobility and job growth.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to adopt best practices across all divisions.
Pros
Great benefits. Fun work location. Interesting to walk through a studio lot and see them film TV shows. If you like super fast paced, then this is a great place to work. Opportunities to work on cutting, and occasionally bleeding, edge technology.
At the non-management level, most people are pretty nice and competent.
Co-worker scandals, showing up drunk/high, screaming obscenities...these are tolerated once you are "in" the right circle.
Cons
While in a HR training class on performance reviews I asked, in front of the class, why the performance review process does not apply to Executive Management (VP+).
The instructor responded, "Executive Management all got together and decided they don't need to be reviewed."
Wow.
Advice to Senior Management
Bring in an outside management consulting company to evaluate how your company makes decisions. Also look seriously at the competencies of your executive management.
Pros
Lots of employee activities offered, great summer activities, on-campus day care and work out facilities - really employee morale focused. People work hard but feel appreciated.
Cons
Would like to see more focus on diversity.
Advice to Senior Management
Aside from the suggestion to focus more on diversity (recruitment and retention on the corporate level - not just on the creative/production side), keep up the good work!
Pros
Overall Fox is an entertainment company that is in the game to win. I have found it encourages cross division collaboration and good ideas, for the most part, can be acted upon.
Cons
Perhaps it is an imperative in the current state of the domestic economy, however, the lean nature of the organization means there is a lack of financial support to really support the brands - not only in promotional dollars, but also in the number of staff needed to execute.
Advice to Senior Management
Fox Entertainment is, overall, a good place to work. Continue to encourage a scrappy can-do attitude and look for ways to continue to collaborate across divisions.
