Pros
Fun, laid back environment
Easy to trade shifts with other employees
Cons
Management picks favorite employees that consistently are assigned better shifts/sections/etc.
Food is slow getting out to costumers
Advice to Senior Management
Some managers are great whereas others can't and don't even try to relate with the employees. Also, the servers compete with each other, often making the work environment almost cut-throat. Why not encourage your serving team to act as a team?
Pros
The involvement in the operations and freedom of action available to mgmt. Being involved in the community with the position. The ability to create and execute ideas with certain levels of freedom.
Cons
Long hours, very little career growth, very poor time management from a corporate view. A corporate philosophy that is taken from the current management book of the day and a belief of repeating terms from the books will make people believe them. Instead of creating a true culture that is unique to the company. A tired belief in personality profiles that limit people due to what they put on a simple test.
Advice to Senior Management
Invest in keeping employees instead of churn & burn.
