A second home

Analyst (Current Employee)

I have been working at Fractal Analytics full-time for less than a year

ProsThe culture and freedom towards work makes it a very special firm. It may come out to be one of those few firms where you might enjoy so much in an office that you might not want to go home! Every employee is trained properly, looked after after and given the right attitude.

ConsThe work could get monotonous but that is different with every case and may not be true most of the times as shifting among projects is equally simple now here.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep coming up with these fantastic ideas and there is nothing stopping this firm!

Worst experience

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Fractal Analytics

ProsIn less than 6 months, you will know the work culture.
There is nothing more to learn beyond it.

ConsNot an employee friendly company. Huge let down.

Appreciations are based on how well you pretend as if you are working for long hours.
By knowing this fact, some people intentionally send mails in the late hours.

Step mother treatment for laterals. They gain knowledge from the existing employees and rule them.

Incompetent managers with hidden agendas and poor staffing.

HR system - appraisals are designed in such a manner that both high and low performers get almost equal hikes. Low performers are given market corrections to match with high performers.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Taken a distastorous turn in the last couple of years

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Fractal Analytics full-time for more than 3 years

Pros- Some great guys at the Analyst/Senior Analyst level as well as the managers who have risen from within Fractal
- Flexible hours
- People principles are a step in the right direction. But in the hands of lateral hires, can and will be abused

Cons- Highly incompetent middle managers hired from outside in the past 1.5 years have led to a lot of frustration amongst the juniors as well as introduced politics and favortism in the the system
- Perception of work rather than work itself is what counts. In order to progress, you must constantly advertise how good a job you have done, again something introduced by lateral hires
- HR was terrible and continues to be terrible. If you advertise your low selection rates and the calibre of schools you go to, follow the same for the HR team as well. Highly incompetent!
- Staffing on projects is underpar. Randomly pulling off 5 people who know nothing about the potential requirements.
- Distribution of work --> Some teams work 80 hour weeks, some teams come in to play foosball. But still appraisal is based on NPS. Clearly, if a team has to work greater number of hours, it may be due to poor staffing/ understaffing/ poor scoping -> errs on the part of the senior/middle management, which the junior staff pays for in the appraisals. I don't know any solutions to this problem, but please be more aware of who is doing what.

Advice to Senior ManagementNPS is a complete farse- Not everyone is dealt an equal hand. It is your responsibility to be perceptive of the quality and quantity of output, rather than relying on the middle management or the NPS. I have heard in one of my appraisals that only one person in the team can get an A. What sort of a criteria is that?

Please promote people from within rather than getting people from outside. Please review your selection/hiring process. Poor HR = Poor hiring?

regretful work experience

Senior Analyst (Current Employee)
Gurgaon, Haryana (India)

I have been working at Fractal Analytics full-time

ProsGreat leader Srikanth.

In the recent days, they are trying to improve the situation as the attrition reached peak level (almost 25-30%).

Freedom in terms of location and career path with little bureaucracy.

There are no cubicles at work space. Good move from traditional approach.

ConsI regret myself for working in this company. Very poor opportunities.

Are they giving opportunities based on strengths or weakness ?

MBA grad (who is interested in business development) is given technical works
One guy with MMM experience is given MGRC (data harmonization)
Analytic techniques enthusiastic is given reporting tools work
Stats / Economists are given reporting

This effects individuals career severely. Lot of my old friends told me they were offered better opportunities when they resign.

These are managers response to employee when we ask for better opportunities.
MBAs --> Not meeting the expectations. We set the bar high.
Engineers --> Lack of business skill or statistics knowledge
Economists/Statistician --> Domain skills or technical skills are poor

By all means, getting good opportunities is miserable. Scarcity of opportunities.
There are very few lucky ones who get it either by relations or resignations.
I could have learnt a lot if I were in a different organization instead of wasting my time.
There were no market corrections in the last mid appraisal.

Advice to Senior ManagementInstead of spending efforts in branding It is advisable to improve work culture.

Great Place to Learn, Nurture, Grow, Work and Lead as an Intraprenuer

Senior Analyst (Current Employee)
Mumbai (India)

I have been working at Fractal Analytics full-time for more than a year

ProsFreedom in everything one does. One is free to choose project, mentors, vertical, career path and work locations. With new Peoples Principles the management has laid a very modern concept of governance. Its a very liberal governing system.
Great projects and peers to work with and learn.
Focus is on client value generation and building the best solution.
CEO and the Sr. Management is open and transparent about anything and everything in the company.
Individual view point is important to the CEO and management.
Freedom to take initiatives in sync with the company goals and develop leadership skills.
Group activities make the work place quite filled with fun.
Work Life balance is quite easy with flexi timings and location of working.

ConsHR and middle management had been looked as problem areas. With new principles in place I feel it has already started improving and bound to improve in future.

Advice to Senior ManagementVery optimistic about the governance system of the company. Sr Management will have to ensure that people do not exploit the freedom and impart a sense of responsibility in every one as culture with the freedom.

I have been working at Fractal Analytics full-time for more than a year

Pros1-Employee friendly,cares for employee,very transparent(like salary bands).
2-Since Fractal has taken reboot i hope it will become again same as it was year back(There was some changes which some apex member termed as operational excellence, timesheet fill ups,log in-log out monitoring, quarterly team party were cancelled)
3-i hope after reboot it will be again Fractal analytics which was turned into IT factory(6 months back)

Cons1-Middle management need to take more responsibility of training A's,SA.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease do waste extra money(in logistics) on meetings which is not needed(Specially in Gurgaon like Townhall, other events which were held recently)

Organization with lot of hidden tricks

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Fractal Analytics

ProsRelocation options and client communication.

It is still in naive state not well established.

ConsSlow learning curve. You will reach stagnant stage in few months. They neither let you grow nor go. Keep rotating doing same works. Very limited grooming and low pay checks.

Indirect comments and biased views based on favoritism. Managers harassment demotivates employees.
