    Pros

Looks like there are opportunities and growth is rapid but you must know how to grow

    Cons

A company that only appreciates the employee whom he needs, promotions are given randomly but no one is concerned about any of the employees

    Advice to Management

The HR and team mix needs to be balanced. Too many senior employees in the team can't grow the team, they can only fight among themselves for the best approach

    Pros

The flexibility of the organization is refreshing as many companies are not and the genuine caring of the staff and employer of their employees. This is a young company so they are eager and hungry to learn, be productive that results in being successful.

    Cons

Because of my role and having to deal with many who are in India it sometimes makes it a challenge to get this done as quickly as you like.

    Advice to Management

Needs consistency across the board in respects to administration and the need to be more communicative in order to get things done in a timely fashion. Although there is a time difference, but if your able to get all your question/request answered with less back and forth would be helpful

    Pros

Analytics is a high growth industry that is very exciting with lots of innovation. Fractal encourages people to step outside the box and consider new ways of doing everything. We are working on process improvements in every aspect of the company and it's fun to watch the evolution. Everyone is so nice and considerate and helps each other to learn and grow.

When other companies are downsizing, this one is moving up, way up and FAST!

    Cons

Rapid growth with lots of process improvements so things are getting better quickly and people need to be flexible and agile to keep up.

    Advice to Management

Continue crystallizing and communicate the vision for growth.

    Pros

CEO and his exec team :

They know how to "do business" and enable generation of revenue way better than some of our big competitors. They are far ahead of the curve in this aspect. Also, they are openly approachable and are in general, a very client-focused team. They frequently tweak the org-structures and policies to see what works and what doesn't; They are not shy to experiment with a lot of things on a large scale. The CEO is an amazing leader.

    Middle-level management :

Majority of the attrition/people-related issues/ bottlenecks are due to the attitude of middle level management. I wouldn't blame them entirely - reason being that these people are not seasoned managers with great "people and process" skills. Leadership was forced on them as a by-product of high growth of the company and maturing client relationships. This inevitably happens when number-crunchers are suddenly given a team and asked to deal with people instead of numbers.

    Analysts :

Extremely smart and helpful people. They reciprocate the trust placed in them - Our NPS scores say it all. Can see some great problem-solving skills from these people.

    Work culture/ Systems and processes:

You feel like you are still in your college, doing your group-assignments. No rigid way to do things here. One is free to execute things one wants to do in whichever way he/she likes - Bottom line being that the client must be happy. From day 1 of the project induction, you will be given a lot of responsibility and ownership and are made to feel that you are important to the client.

One is free to design his career and pursue a career track that suits him/her the best. Flexible timings, No cap on leaves and WFH policies help a lot in planning your trainings either online or with FAA. There is usually some or the other training going on frequently.

One learns the importance of networking in few months of joining. U have to network a lot and showcase skill-set to get on to good projects.

    Compensation and Benefits:

Initial pay is less but hikes are too good.

    Cons

We are doing some cutting-edge things for our clients. But the quality of work in some SCPs (especially the largest one) need to be taken care of. There are some projects which Fractal should not be doing but is still doing just to milk the cash-cow. These kinds of projects neither add value to Fractal, nor create any learning for the analyst.

Good thought-leadership is not seen from the Leads and Senior Consultants. They are not moving as fast as they should in a dynamic industry. It would greatly help the firm if these people are atleast open towards new innovations. Breaking the status-quo is something that the middle-level management needs to learn.

Middle level management can do a lot more in terms of identifying the right talent and placing them in the right job. It is not an uncommon scene that Economics graduates working on SQL or MBAs doing data cleaning or engineers doing content-generation and Branding in Fractal.

Some teams are overworked and some teams have not enough work to fill the day of the analyst. A balance needs to be struck.

Attrition is relatively one of the lowest in the industry. However, going by absolute numbers, we are losing many (and some really good) employees. This is bound to hurt in some way.

    Advice to Management

Address the career aspirations of analysts, Train the Middle level management properly. Find a way to retain good talent. Try to get rid of low-quality work - we are not a KPO.

    Pros

    Great culture, friendly colleagues.

    Cons

Salary differs a lot especially in the apex group. It is not based on the value that one brings to the table. Lateral hires / people close to EXEC are being paid way more than the others (how does one explain a variation of 10-15 lakhs at the same level). This is leading to a breach of trust and discontent. This is precisely the reason salary bands are not made public for the apex group (size is greater than 100 and hence there should not be any privacy issues). Company in the field of analytics is failing to understand such a simple logic – market realities are fine but do not penalize the existing set of people. Don’t assume that the differences are not known, if it is not corrected soon the same would show up in work and hence business would suffer hugely.

Similarly, there is again no rationale or transparency behind allocation of ESOPs. Some of the great EXEC members have ridiculously given more to their favorite people within apex. Why can’t the company make its stance clear? One key objective is accumulation of wealth (amongst others) and the same is getting mowed down by mindless arrogance and high handedness of senior management.

    Advice to Management

Suggestion: Both things have to be corrected asap, esp for apex, and with great deal of transparency. Please don’t bring in the rationale of market realities; no one is a kid out here. Otherwise be ready to carry on with discontent apex group and mediocre work.

Good learning place, good teams, good place to start career, learn and move ahead. If you are self motivated individual, you can find good people in the company to learn from.

    Cons

Poor salaries, Used to be great 3 years back. Loosing the culture of fun in work. Too much revenue focused. If you are not staffed on a project, you are just a pool of resource nobody to take care of.

    Advice to Management

Do you want to be "Mckinsey in Analytic" by following the "MuSigma Way"?? Doesn't seem like it is going to happen.
