I have been working at Fractal Analytics full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Growth, training, flexibility timing, open culture

    Cons

    a) Very bad organization structure - both Analysts and Leads report to the same person, creating lot of conflicts. How can a person X do an appraisal of person Y whose next level is that of person X.

    a) Analysts & Senior Analysts make most use of freedom/people principles, but large number of them are not mature enough to use them without any impact on work. Few of them spend more than 9 hours in office, but use most of that time to socialize with peers and no work. it negatively impacts project deliveries and client value creation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please fix the organization structure and ensure that junior staff develop mindset to use freedom wisely without affecting work.

Former Employee - Analyst in Mumbai (India)

I worked at Fractal Analytics full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    - Great work culture: open-door policies, townhalls, Fractal-all Fridays, IJPs (Internal Job Postings)
    - CEO vision: employee focus, value creation
    - The quality of entry-level analysts

    Cons

    - Low (and degrading) quality of middle management: not only affects the performance of teams, but discourages people from long-term stints (who wants to work with such peers? Might as well leave once I've become an SA)
    - Perks and benefits: Although slightly better than the industry standards, these are not good enough to woo (and retain) top talent (specially from places like IITs, IIMs and top DU colleges Fractal recruits from)
    - Wide variation in the quality of work from one team to the other

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Believe in the CEO

I have been working at Fractal Analytics full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I have been working with fractal for a time now. Good work culture. Growth and learning supportive. Opportunities to explore various analytics domain.

    Cons

Managers and ADs are poor. They do not contribute to the deliveries, do not add any technical value to the team. At the same time some managers( which i have experienced) are very unprofessional, they treat a fresher like no respect at all. They give you work like to make ppts, do google search rather than actual analytics. They shout at you( literally) if you ask for more and good work. Even if you work really hard they just ignore it and give it to someone whom they like or is always supporting them even though they are wrong. They do not give you any honest feedback till the time of appraisals and promotions when they just deny that you have worked hard throughout the year. And when you try to shift to other projects they would bad mouth you so that you cannot move to other projects easily.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Despite the above problems this company can grow a lot. They are very talented people but because of these issues they are loosing them. Also u have seen that the difference between package of tier 2 and tier 1 college is so high that a person looses motivation to work seeing a person getting higher package and doing 50% less work them him. Also analyst who are hard worker are not getting what they deserve because of less transparency of who does the work from manager to AD level. Manager gives the credit to the person whom he likes.

I have been working at Fractal Analytics full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Every one in the company is concerned about getting the engagement right for the client. Nothing comes in the way when its a client ask or task. This is what keeps everyone energized in the company. On top of this the whole culture is great with lot of freedom given to everyone. There is a genuine desire by management to make Fractal a transparent and respected company, and it shows in their actions.

    Cons

Infrastructure is not keeping pace with growth. Need to expand office space urgently in Mumbai and Gurgaon. Need better canteen facilities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the great work. Don't dilute the culture and don't bother to copy your competitor's practices... they are not in for the long haul.

I have been working at Fractal Analytics full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    1) Exec Management - Very smart. Know their stuff; seem to complement each other very well
    2) People principles - amazing!
    3) Flat org structure - truly tries hard to have an open structure
    4) Trust & a feeling of belonging. Once a Fractalite, always a Fractalite
    5) Dissent is not discouraged, you can speak up and you will be heard; regardless of your designation

    Cons

    1) Lateral hiring - Lot of new people & quality of lateral hires over past few months does not seem uniform. This is a problem across all levels - even Apex level.
    2) Slow movement on the new location and office setups.
    3) Onsite roles are low. How do you keep top talent from leaving? Reactive H1/work visa applications.

All of the above can be fixed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Srikanth and Pranay are amazing leaders. Exec team - please keep up the good work. Don't rest on your laurels. And don't stop executing.

Recognize and instill passion in your teams. Be ready to take tough decisions on all fronts. The next 18 months will decide if Fractal will be an also-ran or will it be the analytics industry bellwether it hopes to be.

I have been working at Fractal Analytics full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

-A lot of flexibilty and open-ness. WFH and no micromanagement policy is great.
-No set hierarchy, everyone is amicable and approachable. The CEO is the most inspiring person in the organisation: A perfect leader
-Compensation is decent; a lot of growth and career opportunities.
-A lot of learning opportunities if you are interested and willing to make the extra effort.

    Cons

-Some of the senior level management is not that motivated or inspiring.
    -Office space is getting cramped.
-Managers should be involved more in the ground level data handling and issue solving.
-Analyst level employees should take more ownership of their work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Keep up the employee friendly environment we are building.
-Try to expand offices in Gurgaon and Mumbai.
-New employees are not well versed with people principles. Some misuse them and some disregard them.
